Epic Fail
Failed and after a months worth of use. Unlocked it after multiple uses in one day on the fence to the backyard and all the sudden it refused to open as if the lock had scrambled the code on me and I had to cut it off. I contacted seller and the next day after receiving contact to submit for return I was past the 30 day window by hours. Needless to say I loved the product but with no response from the manufacture to help now that the amazon prime help window has closed I'm stuck with a useless cut off lock and no desire to invest in their product again out of fear of the same results and more money down the drain. It would be a 5 star perfect lock if I hadn't had an epic fail.

One wouldn't open.
I bought two of these back in November to replace brass Master locks of similar design, which I had lost. I based my purchase on customer reviews. Bad move. Kingsley sent me an e-mail asking my opinion, which I couldn't provide at the time, as they were for future use. Well, it's now the future, and I'm in Breckenridge, CO. I used the locks to secure a cargo bag on the rear carrier of my RV using cables. One opened with no problem, but the other seem to be frozen inside. It was difficult to get the numbers to move individually. I finally used a heat gun to warm the lock, but to no avail. Finally a maintenance man at the resort cut the shackle using a small bolt cutter. He took it to the trash for me. I don't know what I'm going to do with the other. Probably trash it, too. I never had a problem traveling in any weather with the brass Master Locks. I will be ordering 2 after I finish this review. They seemed better made anyway.

Great lock. Need a key to change the combination, so not anyone can change it without you knowing about it.
Great lock. You have to depress it in order to open it which just gives you an extra feature of security. Price point is spot on for a lock that you can change the combination code, but you need a key to do so. That means no one can change the combination code without the key. All other locks I have seen, anyone with a similar lock who knows your combination code can change the combination code on their own, but not with this lock. It is easy to open the lock with the combination code entered. It is a heavy duty lock, not light weight. It does have a thick handle so it doesn't fit just any latch, but it can fit any chain. High quality. Works every time thus far. It is easy to set your own combination code. I did it on the first try.

Great lock that failed to operate when used in a rough situation
I've ordered two of these locks, plus five others that are similar with the Master Lock name on them. One of my Kingsley locks no longer opens and closes. It didn't fail immediately, but got harder and harder to open and close. It is the lock I used to lock the back of my cargo trailer, which broke during my first trip with the trailer on the road. I had used a key lock on the trailer for years without any failures. I bought the lock on June 27, 2017 and it failed on October 15, 2017, but was only used on the road once. Why the three star rating? It's really a nice lock, probably a five star product if not subject to the abuse it gets when used to lock a cargo trailer. But it gets one star for ruggedness.

Great unless you want to unlock it... which admittedly is pretty important.
Received my lock yesterday and sent it back this morning. The lock itself doesn't always open, even with the correct code. It seems like the mechanism is not well designed; when pushing the lock down to try to open it sometimes the code would change itself too. After trying to change the code, it took about 20 or so attempts to get it open again with the new code (thought it was broken at first and was about to give up).Given that many reviewers here had the same problem, or their lock started to exhibit the same problem over time... this seems like a problem waiting to happen. I wouldn't buy this lock unless you have a good plan for how to open it if it stops unlocking. My lock did not come with instructions either, so I had to dig through here to figure out how to change the code, which was kind of annoying.

Can't set the combination
I wasn't able to set a new combination, so I got another family member to try, he wasn't able to either. It seems the key isn't fitting in correctly, won't turn very far, or there's some other defect preventing it from turning. All the locks the locks on Amazon had good and bad reviews, figured some people didn't do it correctly. The instructions are really clear, it just doesn't work. I also don't like that when you use it you have to hold it in and scramble the numbers to lock. It's a shame because it feels like a sturdy lock. It's getting returned.

Kingsley locks freeze outdoors and won't open!
I purchased 2 locks and was thrilled to be able to lock the privacy gates to my backyard so my dog would be safe inside. I placed the locks on the gates and they got harder and harder to open. They have only been on the gates or 3 weeks. Today I removed them because it took me 35 tries to get the lock to open. The loop part seems not to release even though I have the correct combination. It seems to stick and after 35 tries today I said "Forget this!!!!" I tossed the locks. I will drive down to West Marine and get 2 Abus combination locks. I have 2 on my sailboat that are 17 years old and still work great!!!! Sorry Kingsley... no recommendation from me. Maybe they work fine indoors.

Really great. Solid.
Solid, heavy (sturdy feeling), very substantial lock. Stainless steel and brass (I guess). Comes with small key to program and reprogram combination. Unlike some cheaper dial locks I have, once the combo is set, I see no way to accidentally. (or even purposely) cause combo change unless the reset key is used. The apparant heft and quality was., frankly, unexpected. Just recently got it, but seems worth th the (not unreasonable) price. Very handsome.
