Jonathan Demme's re-working of the 1963 film 'Charade' is set in Paris and features several cameos from French cinema. After her recent marriage to Parisian art-dealer Charlie Lambert (Stephen Dillane), Regina Lambert (Thandie Newton) decides to go away by herself to think things through, where she meets a charming and handsome American, Joshua Peters (Mark Wahlberg). On her return she discovers that her husband has been murdered, that he lived a secret life, had several passports and was linked to $6 million that have gone missing. Not only this but the police think she killed Charlie, a US embassy official (Tim Robbins) tells her that Charlie was a secret agent, and three mysterious characters turn up demanding the money. Just as things are getting too much for her, the handsome Joshua Peters appears in Paris and a romance begins. But is Joshua too good to be true?

Suspense full on
There is something amiss and must be known by the wife of her dead husband. Found to be leading a double life and mystery surrounding him she is targeted by a ruthless gang. Not knowing who to trust or who to turn to and trust. The clock is ticking will she find the truth she is looking for, that is for you to find out as I'm not telling you anymore. I rated this an A grade plus for the thrills and suspense that is involved. Fabulous acting and great storyline what more do you want take a peek and see for yourself while relaxing on your chair with munchies in hand. Enjoy!

Expect the unexpected
I bought this dvd not for The Truth About Charlie but for the dvd on the reverse... Charade. I am very pleased with the quality of this version of Charade. There are some bad ones out there. As I am a big fan of this film and regard it as an excellent comedy thriller in the Hitchcock style there were no surprises there. As for Charlie....it is O.K if you like this style of modern film making... but it is not for me! If you are like me buy it for Charade....and enjoy!

An interesting film
An interesting film with good performances from all the leads. I bought the dvd to see Charles Aznavour and he was playing himself in his own impeccable way. A good watch

Stupid
There are too many strange lines and odd camera angles getting the way of the story.
