Hard work but you'll get great results
I've tried so many types of ice crushers over the years - they always disappoint. The worst are actually those included with blender and food processors: ice always ends up packed at the bottom of the jug and has the consistency of a slush-puppy.This inexpensive crusher, however, really does the job. Yes, it's a bit awkward to use - no denying that. Ice is a very, very hard substance and you will need some muscle power to turn that handle. The handle will get stuck sometimes so you'll need to give the machine a little shake, or poke the ice inside with the handle of a spoon (I wouldn't advise sticking your fingers through the mechanism - those blades are sharp! The only design fault is I find is that the crusher isn't very tall. Therefore when you spin the handle, you will keep hitting your hand on the surface where you are resting the crusher. I managed to scrape the knuckle of my finger pretty badly during one particularly difficult 'turn'.However, the end result was perfect: ice crushed in the right size. I made some great caipirinhas with the ice I crushed. Not bad for that price at all.

Pretty good for the money
I've used this now for several dinner parties, and BBQ's. On the whole its pretty good for the money. You pop ice cubes in the top, close the flap and use the winding mechanism to crush the ice. I find the machine to work fairly quickly if you place no more than 3 cubes in at a time. A frozen Margharita for example will need about 8 crushed cubes, so it takes maybe 90 seconds to crush the ice required. The winding mechanish takes a resonable amount of elbow grease to crush the ice. I found I needed to place the flat of my hand ontop of the machine and push all my weight onto it while winding to stop the machine slipping around on the worktop. As the evening winds on this becomes more of an issue if your having a few drinks yourself! Having said that its a pretty simple and robustish machine and is pretty good value for money.

It crushes Ice cubes
I bought this item for one purpose only and that was to produce crushed ice. At first glance the item looks and feels a bit flimsy and lightweight, however we have used the item a fair amount, and so far it has done what it says it can do and crushes ice cubes with comparative ease.

Very good for the price - does the job it's designed for
I read a few reviews stating this was flimsy, hard to use, too small etc so I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it is actually very good for the price. Yes, it is plasticy not stainless steel, but who can be surprised at this price? And yes, it will only handle a handful of (decent sized) ice cubes at a time, but the inner mechanism is robust and crushes ice in very quick time, and it only takes a second to load more so what's the issue? I used this to produce enough crushed ice for about 16 cocktails in no time at all and it did the job admirably. I didn't give it five stars just because it is slightly lightweight, but I would happily have given four and a half!!

Cheap and cheerful ice crusher
For £15 this is great. No, it is not made entirely of gold or any other lovely metal as some people seem to expect, but it’s core component (the ice crusher) is metal, the casing is plastic. It works. Whack a few ice cubes in, turn a few times and voila... crushed ice.My only disappointment is the perceived volume of crushed ice obtained from solid ice, that is not the fault of this product however.

Cheap and cheerful
I know it's very cheap but would expect a certain level of quality. Very poorly made. The handle feels like it's going to snap off when you turn it. My advice to future purchasers, don't bother. Disappointed.

Pretty good - but do note it takes a fair bit of effort to use!
Bought this for my girlfriend as part of a cocktail station and it’s been relatively well used so far and is still going strong! It’s worth noting that the top needs held down when crushing ice and it takes a fair bit of effort to hold it down and force round the handle. Make smaller cubes (only filling a tray 2/3 of the way) and it’s a lot easier but still a bit of a push. The handle is not sturdy and would be easy to break, but so long as you realise and respect this it’ll be fine. Decent value for money.

Compact product, large benefit!
Before I bought this ice crusher I was crushing ice in a bag with a wooden chopping board and a hammer - this has made life so easy! The crusher works really well, the bucket is a good size to fill alot of cocktail glasses, sometimes it's a little hard to crush the ice but with a little force it cuts through the cubes (so dont worry about using that extra force it can take it) and its a good size to store in a cupboard, and i really like the sleak modern design, unlike some other ice crushers I have seen which look bulky. One tip I worked out is you can crush alot of ice when you have the time then store it in a bag in the freezer for a party - then its there when you neeed it! saving valuable time when entertaining. All in all I love this product and for the price I think its amazing.
