Given the price I'm giving this five stars. It works well it dims and brightens smoothly. Like most other dimmers when you get to the dimmest level, sometimes it flickers off. But there's a good amount of dimming that occurs before that flickering level. I'm no electrician, but stripped the wires from my "clip on" gooseneck lamp (with a dimmable LED bulb), then did the same thing for the dimmer (on the lamp side of the control) and wired/wove together the copper strands just by hand and then wrapped the 2 individual wires with black electrical tape. After that, taped the pair overall together. Lots of tape reasonably snug. When light is not needed, I make sure to turn the dimmer fully off (you can feel the click) so that home made connection is not always powered (safety precaution). I'm happy with this device. I decided to hard wire because of too much cord length. Initially I did just plug in my lamp and that worked fine too.

I used leviton sliding dimmer switches for years and they worked as advertised and never seemed to wear out, I'm looking at one right now that I installed 35 years ago on a swag lamp and it still works like it did on day 1. Lo and behold they stopped making them CRAPOLA !! !Casting around for "old new" stock I found a few on EBAY for $30 to $40 OUCH !! BUT Amazon had a wheel type dimmer that showed great promise. I received it in 2 days Prime and saw that it would could work out just fine. I used another product Vampire plugs {see my review} to convert it to an inline switch. Snip,snip.push push all done.

One works fine, the other doesn't dim just works like a short extension cord.

My wife did not want an walk-in tub. We did install a new deeper wider tub which I highly recommend, for less than $500 and this works beautifully. Battery lasts for weeks.
