Water Softner
No more lugging bags of salt, breaking my back trying to get them in the softener reservoir.... NO MORE SALT. Whew! We bought this product for our home 2 years ago for a quarter of what a new salt water system cost. It took about 20 minutes to install, with no tools needed. Every month I test our water softness with the strips I purchased and every month our water test indicates our water is soft. The calcium deposits on the inside on my dishwasher, toilets and showers are gone. We just purchased it again for our rental property and our renters love it. I would buy this produce again and again if needed. Great value, ease of installation and the product works without you having to do anything. Nothing but happy!!

Easy to Install
I looked into this as we have hard water, but not so bad that I wanted to deal with a water softener and all that salt. I just was tired of cleaning off buildup on our faucets over time, and the little white rings on the countertops and sinks. It's been in for 10 days now, and we've noticed a big difference. Our drip tray on the refrigerator water dispenser used to be a big problem with unsightly marks that were hard to clean off. They are now gone and not reappearing. Installation was simple. Coiling the wires around the pipe is the worst part--not difficult, but tedious. But you only have to do two of them and you're done!

Made in Germany descaler, if it's good enough for industrial uses, it's good enough for homes
NOTE: This device will not work if your water contains more than 1 ppm iron or 0.1 ppm manganese. The device is not waterproof and needs to be sheltered where the temperature does not exceed 55 degrees C. Temperature peaks on water heating elements should not exceed 95 degrees C (limescale will form on hot surfaces such as tea kettles). Treated water should be drained or retreated in 2 days (limescale will form on areas of stagnant water such as humidifiers and swamp coolers). This device is not a water softener. It is a descaler. What it does is that it converts dissolved lime that's in the water into lime crystals. The lime crystals will wash out with the water and appear as a fine powder that's more easily wiped away instead of the rock-like limescale left by untreated water. In the process of converting dissolved lime into lime crystals, carbon dioxide is produced which turns to carbonic acid in the water. The carbonic acid will gently dissolve hard scales in the plumbing. The treated water will last for about 2-7 days, then revert back to its untreated state, so it must be drained or retreated within that time frame. This product should help reduce limescale buildup. Instructions: Wrap the two impulse cables tightly into two cylindrical sleeves around the pipe. There should be no gaps between the windings, but the two impulse cables should be separated by at least 1/2 inch on the pipe. The device will work for metal or plastic pipes up to 1.5 inches. Select the program for your pipe type (metal or plastic) and size (up to 1 inch or up to 1.5 inches). This is my understanding of how the device works: A modulated voltage is applied to the cables to induce a modulated electric field in the water. The water being dipolar molecules will vibrate due to the changing electric field. The water molecules form a cage around the Ca ions and HCO3 ions, but due to the vibration the cage will break and the Ca will react with the HCO3 to form CaCO3 (crystalized lime) and CO2. The CO2 will form carbonic acid in the water. The carbonic acid will then dissolve the lime scales in the plumbing, while the crystallized lime will just wash away with the water. The product is made by Christiani Wassertechnik in Germany. They make bigger versions of this product for industrial use (hotels, food processing, air conditioning, etc.). The industrial versions are sold under the Vulcan brand. The residential versions are sold under the Calmat brand.

This certainly has not effect on scale deposits
I purchased this item 6 months ago - too bad the return window for this item is gone. So the money is lost. My sinks, dishwasher, and faucets still have an immense amount of scaling and white residue. This product does not work. I tried various set-up configurations to see if these is a change. But none of the changes have an effect. Today I am installing a water softener which uses the old salt solution, I have had that before, but wanted to safe money. Now I lost $330 dollars for the "snake oil" solution.

When I saw something like this at Hom e Creepo
This thing really works. My house is 72 years old with Galvanized pipe. We have HARD water and of course its built up inside the pipes. When I bought my house 18 years ago, it came with a broken water softener and several bags of salt. I didn't want to spend 2 thousand on a water softener so I just lived with it... after so many years, the corrosion has gotten to the point where I was considering removing all of the pipes from my house and replacing with plastic. When I saw something like this at Hom e Creepo , I decided to look into it. THIS one Calmat had the best worldwide reputation and works differently than most scale blasters so I took a chance and bought it.for $350, 2 months after install I can tell you it REALLY works!!!! I have been out of rise aid for months in my dishwasher but now don't need it, my glasses come out spotless! no more crap around the faucets too , it also got rid of a problem I was having with a instant hot water heater not sensing moving water and therefor not heating it... LOVE THIS CALMAT!

Set it up and forget it!
Works well and very inexpensive compared to buying tanks and paying for filters that need replacing. Just set and forget it. We've used it for over 2 years and have had excellent results.

Visible and tangible results
We are on city water, and already have a whole-house salt water filter which helps quite a bit, still I was seeing some scale in places like shower doors and very noticeable spots after hosing down darker paint cars. Installed this a couple of months ago, right away noticed that the spots after hosing down cars were practically gone. By now noticing skin feels smoother as well, so likely the shower water has improved as well. Hopefully its helping the pipes and other areas as advertised, not sure that will become tangible. But definitely improved our water situation.

Not sure if this is effective...
Well, the product box and the product description doesn't mention how much length of pipe you need to fully wrap the cable. My installation had to use one wrap vertical, one horizontal. The pictures seem to show the width of one side of the completed wrap being less than the width of the device. Left me wondering why it visually didn't "match". Should I have double wrapped? Does the wires need to be wrapped in the same direction? Should've had more clear directions. I got this on the payment plan. We'll see if it changes the water and descales all the buildup. I'm skeptical.

Excelente producto. 100% recomendable

Hoping to save on rock salt and the environment.
Saw this device at my local Home Depot and found a far better price buying it used on Amazon! What convinced me to try it was a great YouTube video called "About Magnetic Water Softeners" by Ask Jon Eakes. He mentioned these devices can save on salt in my existing water softener while helping the environment, that was enough for me to give this Calmat Water Conditioner a try. I've only just installed it and will give an update after a few more months in use. But if you have access to your main water line it's a very easy install with little hassle. I even emailed the seller to look over my work in the picture and they promptly responded to my questions and reassured me that it all looks correct!
