Great product! - strong, easy to use and drive down into wood including presure treated wood, and rust resistant. I now use this exclusively for my backyard retaining wall projects.

Best deck screws I have used
I have built a number of decks over the years. This weekend I used a Simpson Strong-Tie 4” SDWS timer screw to install pressure blocking between the joists above the support beam. This process requires me to screw through the joist and into the end grain of the pressure block (short length of joist material placed between the joists). The course threads pulled into the end grain without stripping out splitting the blocker and pulled joist and block snuggle together. Last year I used fasten master timber screw on my upper deck and had to be very carful when installing as they had a tendency to strip out when threading into end grain. Also when removing the Fasten Master screws from wood, I found some of the protective coating would be missing in the threads where Simpson Stong-Tie coating stay in tact. Best screw I have used to date!

Buy these. Not the FastenMaster
Worth it. Work great in every way. A revelation after decades of lag bolting. Most important, do not just buy structural screws like this, but buy These Exact Screws. Okay, change the length as needed. But don't get the ones at Lowe's and other places. FastenMaster I especially hate as they use some stupider driver. T40 is an excellent drive method, works great. Haven't had one slip out ever, etc.I DO drill a clearance hole in the forward board of two to fasten, to assure the screw pulls the two together, and then you get board interface friction holding, not relying on screw strength for all dimensions. But it is as advertised, even in crazy things like hardwood trees, you can drive straight in, no pilots.

Best structural timber screws on the market
I cant find these in my local stores, but they are my preferred screws for critical load-bearing framing points or attaching joists and sheathing to the sill plate. I also like the longer versions of these for attaching gutters to the rafter tails. They're weather resistant and they hold a lot more reliably than pole barn spikes.

great price on a great product
Way easier than drilling/driving lags. I substituted these for the recommended 5/8 bolts + nails in my deck ledger. Fewer and smaller penetrations than the alternate. Simpson even published an alternate Appendix M for NC building code to match up spacing requirements for these screws with the bolts/nails requirements. Inspector asked that I use 3 or 4 bolts just to be safe, but that's better than having to drill 14 of them out.I also used them to secure the rim joists and blocking for the railing posts to prevent pullout and avoid costly post-anchoring hardware

Dave’s review
These screws are amazing. I’m using them to build my deck. They are massive. My deck is going nowhere.
