Awesome value!
So actually, I bought this years ago, but recently a friend said they wanted one, so I just bought my second one, and realized I didn't leave a review LOL, so here's my review. Great hat, VERY breathable, I sprayed my down with some Scotchgard, it has vents so it won't be water proof at all, but when it sprinkles, my Scotchgard makes it semi resistant lol, it's very light weight, the attachments are great, the back of the neck one is awesome, the front mask one is also great (don't Scotchgard that lol) I've used mine a lot for the last two years I think? And I've gone on plenty of camping, backpacking, and kayaking trips with it, its held up pretty well! The little plastic hooks aren't the strongest, a few broke on me over the years, but I replaced mine with a few metal ones, and just did a lil tweaking, and it holds up. The fabric and the hat itself are VERY tough, I mean, sure, not 100$ tough, but I still don't have any tears or holes, and for how cheap it is, that's amazing lol. All in all, great hat!

Great hat, fully adjustable to fit men and women
I really like this (light gray) hat- the band is adjustable with an elastic locking slide tab at the back, and there’s a tie for under the shin with the same slide lock. The flaps remove pretty easily (there’s hooks rather than snaps in some places- probably so it hangs better?)—It’s light weight and breathable; I’m female with a regular size head (most Womens hats fit me) and a full head of hair (the hat is tall enough to fully cover the tips of my ears and there’s extra width space to accommodate a man’s head- before i adjust the band for my smaller female head) but if you are bald- the mesh sections probably will not give you adequate sun coverage -so wearing a bandana or other head covering or sunscreen protection under the hat is recommended in my opinion (there seems to be plenty of room to add a liner even for the average man’s size head). But for me I’m glad for the mesh so that it’s cooler since I’m in hot Texas. The two sections of flaps sit under the brim and hang nicely, and can easily be removed for washing.—Washing: I’m going to wash this hat by hand (so the brim stays flat) but if it’s put in a net bag- it might be ok to put it in the washer? (But it will not last as long I don’t think- for any hat to be washed in a washer). I wouldn’t wash it in the machine without a net bag because of all the strings that can get tangled and then ripped off.

Not the gold as shown on website
Overall, the hat works well. I was able to adjust it (using a pull cord at the back) to fit my 71/4 head size snuggly. This enabled me to do my outdoor work without having the chin strap in place and without the hat falling off as I moved around (even bending forward or to the side).I have given this hat 4 stars versus 5 for 2 reasons.First, I hat I received was not the same color as what is shown online. Online, the hat is a paler tan with white/off-white mesh. Even in some customer photos, the hat is more tan with whiter mesh. The hat I received is definitely a dark/gold khaki with slightly lighter gold mesh, not a great color for me nor one I would have picked if I had known. I would have ordered the light grey instead. Still, I will keep it as it is for yard work where only the mosquitos and bugs will notice.Secondly, the face piece (like a veil) attaches via velcro to the temple region of the hat. Unfortunately, when in place, this veil pulls on the hair at my temples and is very uncomfortable (pinches and pulls my hair whenever I move with the veil on). The veil has the male part of the velcro, with the softer female part sewn onto the brim of the hat, and this softer part is not noticeable when the veil is not attached.. Also, while it works generally well and mostly stays in place, the back flap attaches via plastic hooks and elastic loops that enable the hooks to detach too easily when working or moving.Overall, the hat has worked well for sun protection. Nice snug fit when "cinched down. Good brim, nice full coverage along the back of my neck (when the flap is secure). Just can't wear the veil with it when outside, which is unfortunate as I wanted to protect the bridge of my nose during some treatment for sun-damaged skin. The forward portion of the brim, however, is pretty nice and covers much of the rest of my face. Wish the face veil and back flap had been attached using snaps, much as some other makers use.Final review: I will keep it for my outdoor work despite the noted drawbacks as it is lightweight and quite comfortable, well-ventilated (in 90+ degrees this week did well).

A well made hat
I purchased this hat along with another similar one, which I was glad I did. The other hat was great, except the button on the mask that tights across your face broke and tore a hole in the mask, which the button was. The mask on this hat does not come with a button to snap together across the face as the other hat did. The buckles that connect to the hooks on the hat can be cumbersome to connect to. It would be a better design if they were buttons that snapped on instead.PROS: looks decent, fits well, mask has buttons that snap into the hat (MAJOR +, see picture), top of hat has a draw string to tighten, the back flap is long to cover the back of my neck (the other hat I bought was slightly shorter), the back flap has 5 buckles (the other hat had 4) which covered nicely the side and back of my head.CONS: would be nice if the buckles and hooks were replaced with buttons to make it a "snap", the fitting of the mask across my face/eyes were okay. It wasn't as "tight" as the other hat, but still works fine. This can be adjusted since there are 2 buttons on each side to make it wider or more narrow across your face.I have a trip to Havasupai Falls in 2 weeks. I'll see how it holds up.
