authentic Indian cooking
I recently purchased the Spicy World Kashmiri Chili Powder Red (7 oz), and it’s a fantastic addition to my spice rack! This all-natural, Indian-origin powder delivers a vibrant red hue and mild heat (1,000-2,000 SHU), perfect for dishes like butter chicken and tandoori chicken. A bit spicy…but not super hot.
I would say the heat for this chili powder is about the same as a medium jalapeño. Or if you were to take paprika and cayenne pepper and equal amounts and mix them, about that hot. I don’t taste much smoky flavor. Seems to be a good chili powder.

MUCH Hotter than Expected
I bought this so I could try an America's Test Kitchen recipe for "Goan Pork Vindaloo" that I saw on their TV show. They emphasised that it was really mild and the recipe calls for 3 TABLESPOONS of Kashmiri Chilli Powder. When I made the dish, following the recipe to the letter, it was HOTTER THAN HELL. Lovely flavors, but my wife was unable to eat it and, as for me, it certainly cleaned out the sluices at both ends! I would recommend cutting the quantity of the powder to maybe 1/3 of the recommended amount (which I will do next time) or trying a different brand of powder.

Spicy but not intense!
I love this chili powder for leveling up my Indian and Thai dishes. The spice is fresh but not too spicy with an awesome cinnamon and chili taste and a vibrant color. I only wish it came in a container but that does hold the cost down.
