One of the most pivotal books in my life
Thank you, Michael Berg -- this is a great gift to humanity! And it is greatly enriching my life! After reading most of this book in one day, despite numerous work distractions, it has already helped me enormously. I find myself spiritually healed, encouraged, given new hope and wisdom and love and faith. It is like the author says, he is continually surprised and gratified to hear feedback from readers that this book has changed their lives. I do not doubt it. It is surely one of the most important books I have ever read. Not just for intellectuals, nor for Jews (and I am a self-confessed Jewish intellectual who sometimes wonders why God didn't have him around at the Creation of the Unvierse to kibbitz a little bit), but for all people who seek greater happiness, wisdom, and love in their lives. The spiritual principles stand up -- far overshadowing the intellectual complexity with which the Kabbalah is normally presented. (In fact, I find some of the negative reviews in this section to be unintentionally hilarious in matching the warning Michael gives that the more one shares the light, the more one meets resistance from various forms of darkness, including intellectual condescension, envy, materialistic greed, and more -- and that the greater the light the more the resistance.) Herein, instead of showy philosphpical complexity, we find folksy pithy and yet highly profound instructional stories by learned Rabbi's and teachers of the Kabbalah which are tremendous growth tools. Instead of hair-splitting footnotes about various scientific and philosophical disagreements among purists, we find simple life-changing paradigms, like that the purpose of life is to learn how to acquire for the good of others, not just oneself, and insights into reincarnation, and karma, and that the central lesson is that through sharing we resoante with the Light of the Creator and become great, while we must be courageous in action yet humble and cautious in not hurting or unduly judging others, and as we learn to love as the Creator loves, we bring about the death of death. (Reminds me of the insights of my Buddhist wife -- the Kabbalah is truly a source of universal wisdom!) This book makes spiritual learning fun, yet never sacrifices depth and sincerity and meaningfulness. I am enjoying it thoroughly. And I have ordered still more books on the Kabbalah. Thank you, Michael Berg. I owe you more than I can ever repay. Thank you, Michael Berg -- this is a mitzvah!

A Wholistic View
This book belongs as one of a set. Elizabeth Clare Prophet wrote a book which clearly describes some of the nuts and bolts of the Kabbalah and is a good first book. This is more of a very wholistic view of what it all means. I feel that I have a decent understanding now.

A Good Starting Point
An easy to approach, if simplistic, treatise on the Wisdom of Kabbalah. Covering the landscape from parables, meditation, Hebrew, formation, the nature of Light and the Creator, the book will give the reader looking for an introduction a good starting point. There are parts of the book - particularly towards the end - that seem somewhat disjointed and the writing not as tight. However, the approachable style and easy to read grammar (complete with glossary) makes it a good resource.

excellent understandable introduction!
I have had the privilege of reading books from several religious traditions on their mystical branches. I've not before read books on the Jewish mystical tradition. First, I was amazed at how approachable was the writing. The author wrote in an easy-to-understand first person manner. Of the 50 or so books read on mysticism, this was THE easiest to understand with little "dogma". It isn't by any means authoritative or comprehensive. That said, the author went on to discuss many of the ins and outs. I was engaged from page 3. A long time ago I began reading such works in small chunks rather than reading front to back in one sitting. I kept coming back and at times practiced techniques or pushed ideas. I like the author's style and will look up other books, if any, of his. I highly recommend this book for university and public libraries, as well as spiritual and counseling centers. I give everything I read a grade, and this book, I believe, merits at least an A-.

An Inspiring And Informative Book
An inspiring and informative book by Rav Michael Berg. His easy to read explanations leave no confusion as to what the author means. No punches here, and you will find yourself in deep introspection reading the 244 page book.Kabbalah is a science that may fill-in blanks left from other paths. It is not magic. It is not mysticism. It is practical and the only concern any one from any religious or spiritual belief should have...is that it works. To undertake the study of authentic Kabbalah, and I say authentic because as in all genre's the false and flakey grow their weeds among the vines. Rav Berg is authentic. The Way is a power-packed work showing how to recognize and understand the key spiritual lawsโthat if undertakenโwill have an impact on your life and ripple to family, friends, associates.RECOMMENDED for Seekers with an Open Mind; potential & current Kaballah students; the Curious; religious & spiritual readers
