I'm using this book in my Therapeutic Nutrition course, and I love the book. I bought the kindle version - and it makes it so easy to do a search for a condition or medication and quickly get the information that's pertinent to me as a nutritionist. It covers many conditions, focuses on the management of inflammation, and offers potential treatment summaries for all the issues it presents. I will continue to use this book in my practice. The section titles are Introduction, Principles of Functional Medicine, The Building Blocks, Fundamental Physiological Processes, Fundamental Clinical Imbalances, A Practical Clinical Approach, and Putting it All Together. I highly recommend it. It is easy to ready and helps my learning process tremendously

Best reference source on evidence based integrative therapies I have found! Does quite a thorough job offering holistic treatment options and uses the well designed vanderbilt ranking system to score them. Saves me a great deal of time not having to do this work myself which gives me more time to teach patients about health and healing, and also inspiration to research and contemplate those conditions that effective treatment options are less established. Thank you David, the co-authors, and the Weil group for putting together this book! Your karma is being burned off toward true grace as we speak! There was a broad coverage of medical subjects. Explanations were well supported, understandable, and clinically very useful. Used by the American Board of Integrative Medicine as the primary source text for board certification exam.S.W. Flowers, MD, MTOM, FACOG, ABHIM, FACAM

Wonderful text for, hopefully, future doctors and all students of health. Terrific information for the layperson who may be looking for alternatives to medicine and surgery to heal themselves. Well worth the money!

DO NOT BUY FROM KINDLE! I did not understand that the Kindle version does not give you the same functionality that buying the ebook from Elsevier does. You do not have access to the online expertconsult which contains much of the great clinical usefulness of this book. It is a very good Integrative Medicine review. I say that as someone who has been practicing and teaching Integrative Medicine since 1998. Lots of good links and references but you can't access them through the Kindle version. I contacted support and the author about this, and both recommended the Elsevier version.--JP

Outstanding reference book. Should be an important addition to everyone's library. It is critical to understand medicine has changed to a blend of traditional and alternative methods. INTERGRATIVE MEDICINE is the book to go to understand the balance between each method.

One of my favorite college reads. It forced me to become more professional in my educational field. This book is jam-packed with scientifically based information.
