Works great
After reaching the age of a million and one years, I finally discovered the cheap thrills of having a clean edge while using watercolors. It wows me every time I pull the tape off. This sticks well enough to do the job but also easily peels off. Nice paper works the best but if I was slightly careful, it would peel off from inexpensive watercolor sheets from Walmart. I was in need of a few cards I wanted to send in the mail, it was important enough to me to have them receive something real. I quickly bought the paper and ordered other supplies from Amazon. So much fun! Now I can't stop, somebody help me! ๐

great tape, can underflow slightly with dripping wet washes
This tape is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Comes up easily on all the watercolor paper I use, even if it is down for a few days, but just enough tack to hold. It's also inexpensive compared to alternatives. As some commentators have pointed out, this tape is thin compared to a lot of other masking tape, but it has no effect on doing the job that I can tell after using it on a few pieces. The downside to the low tack is you have to be extra careful to not get some underflow if you are doing a completely soaked wash. Almost all tapes have this problem and the couple I have used that don't have way too much tack and tear paper frequently coming up. I got the half inch for partitioning full sheets into smaller sections for doing daily watercolor thumbnails, but am ordering a larger size right away for tacking down pages to working surfaces now that I have seen how well it works. Not doubting that others have had the unfortunate experiences they relate in some of these bad reviews. Cheap products often have some variability and tape is particularly prone to reacting to high heat or humidity in shipping. But when it is on this tape is great and I won't hesitate to keep buying it and just use Amazon's return policy if I should hit a bad batch.

Good art tape
Great for masking my watercolor paintings. Water will not soften the tape. Feels durable and good value. A few times, it did rip off my page, and the ink seeped through. Probably didn't place it to take off properly.

Medium Tack, Use for 140 lb watercolor paper
Doesn't stick well enough for taping down watercolor paper. Will work for framing but that's a lot of tape for framing. I changed my rating from 3-4 stars because of customer service. After posting 1st review, company contacted me to make it right. They do have a artist tape that is made for heavier weight paper that they are sending. Impressed with service. UPDATE: Received replacement in mail..that is PERFECT FOR WATERCOLOR PAINTING. It is medium tack made for "heavy weight paper", like 140 lb paper. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Reasonable price, works well for the intended purpose.
Excellent for holding down watercolor paper onto a surface. It doesn't damage the WC paper when removed like typically masking tape will. However, note that this is not masking tape (sometimes called Painters Tape) so for other tasks it does not have enough holding power. It appears to be waterproof and did a good job for me with 140 pound paper.

Holds a charge, so do not need to keep plugged in while using.
Perfect Low-Tack tape. Holds well without sticking too much or leaving residue. I mostly use it for holding paper and fabric for tracing patterns with a light box for embroidery. My husband uses it for his portrait pastel drawings. Holds the charge for a long time.

Worst of all worlds = Everything you DON'T want in art tape!
Truly crappy art tape! This tape somehow manages to do what seems almost impossible: It both does not stick well enough to hold the paper onto a board, AND yet somehow sticks too much to the paper so that it rips the surface on removal. That's quite an achievement! When I first applied it, after only a few minutes it started to peel off the wooden board by itself. Literally about 5 inches or so separated (half the length of the paper). I rubbed it down several times, thinking that it would stick eventually. But it continued to separate again after a few minutes. Finally I taped down the tape with some stronger non art tape. I was going to return it, but then thought, well, with this weak adhesion, at least it won't damage the paper. Wrong! After finishing the piece some weeks later, on removal, it took chunks off the surface of the paper. Subsequent uses have pretty much repeated these same results. There have also been times when it left a sticky residue on the paper and the board. So it would seem that the adhesive is very very inconsistent throughout the length of the roll. So ... if it doesn't stick to the board, AND it still rips your paper ... well .... WHAT THE HECK IS THIS GOOD FOR???!!! This tape somehow manages to do all the exact worst things possible for art tape!

Cheap tape, dont waste your money
Low tack! That is an understatment. I tried to use this on watercolor paper. I needed low tack but this tape didnt hold up at all. I was using this tape to hold my watercolor paintings to the mats when I was selling them without a frame. The tape pulled way from the mat and it was terrible. Made my presentation of my artwork at shows look cheap and sloppy. Dont waste your money.
