Diaper Genie Platinum Pail, Blue

I am currently pregnant with baby #4 and my third is still in diapers. The original Diaper Genie I received when I had my firstborn broke and I was on the hunt for a new diaper pail. I did some research and decided to give a different brand a try. My goodness was that a mistake! It was so flimsy! It also had no way to "pinch" the bag to help prevent odor from escaping into the room when you put in a dirty diaper, the pail itself was short, etc. After returning that horrible, other branded pail I was again on the hunt for a new one.I saw this newer Diaper Genie and was attracted to the stainless steel design. I also liked the idea of having pre-cut bags. With my OG Diaper Genie, there was always a random small amount of diaper bag that was leftover and wasted because of how the bag was cut. I was a little hesitant because of the price of the replacement bags; but, I decided to go for it anyway.This thing is amazing! I am so happy I went back to the superior brand, Diaper Genie, for a new diaper pail. If I ever need another I won't even look at other brands. They named their company Diaper Genie for a reason.I love that the bags are loaded at the bottom and you can just pull the bag out and immediately start fresh with a new one. Being 5'9'', I also prefer the height of this pail over others. I do not feel like I'm bending over as much to put the diaper in the pail. I was so excited when they released the stainless steel one. It’s sturdy and I don’t have to worry about plastic retaining smell. I also love that there’s a foot petal instead of needing to use my hands to open it. It’s a great size and holds a lot of diapers. If you’re like me and want to fit as many as you can, it will get more difficult to close towards the top. You’ll have to shove them in. If you’re not like that, you can just toss the diapers in and it closes with ease. If you get the set with the bags, note that the bags are pre-installed in the pail. I thought mine were missing but found out they were in the pail already when I went to add new ones. There are two slots in the pail for bags so you’ll be set for a long time. Adding new bags is super easy by the way.

We’re first time parents and I knew that we’d want a diaper pail that would contain odors and be easy to use. The foot pedal is a must have for cleanliness and ease of use and the stainless steel can itself doesn’t absorb odors (plastics typically absorb odors and can hang onto them). I’m sure this can will last us for our next baby if not longer than that! Highly recommend! People seem to complain that they are missing the bags but they’re tucked away in a cover on the bottom of the pail— and if by some circumstance you are actually missing them, reach out to diaper genie customer support they’re really helpful! I do want to note that the first one we ordered was missing the foot pedal, but we just returned it for a replacement pail— diaper genie didn’t have any replacement pedals at the time in the color pail we had ordered.—will update review in 9 months.

If you had told me a year ago that I’d be writing a review for a diaper pail at 6am, I’d have laughed at you. But I woke up for a diaper change this morning, and I just felt compelled to share the good word. BUY THIS PAIL. Seriously do not look any further. Click “buy now.” The foot pedal is great, you do not have to shove your hand + dirty diaper through a small hole, the smell is contained, the metal is easy to clean, the tall height is a wonderful relief for sore new-parent backs, and it’s so easy to change out bags/rolls. I truly do not know why anyone would want to buy a different product.

The design seems so nice, steel container, easy to pull the bag up and put the new one in! The problem is the mouth to slide the bag up the top is about 2 inches smaller in every direction than the body of the diaper genie. AS you add diapers the bag will be too wide for the mouth, causing it to split in every single side on the way up. You'll need to get a regular trash bag and fish every diaper out of the diaper genie, every time you want to change a bag. I don't overfill these bags either, if the entire top opened up this would be so nice. This was definitely built by people who never had to use it. Try another brand
