Was able to update my old Garmin RS232 device with this usb cable (for....reasons).
It worked using free driver and Garmin Web updater.

GREAT purchase to destroy your GPS!!
GREAT purchase to destroy the boot sequence of your GPS. After trying to update the GPS using Windows Vista, NT, 2K, 10 and 11....uploaded all recommended drivers.... nothing. all I get now "SW Missing" and the GPS does not boot up anymore. Unable to do a factory reset. This was my Dad's GPS we use to use hunting before he passed away. Now, sadly I had to buy another GPS. Like if I had $200.00USD laying around.... And to top it off, the price of the same GPS dropped in two days. I should stop typing now.... its just gonna get worse..

Works with the right driver
It works but I needed to use the CP210x_VCP_Windows.zip driver from Silicon Labs not the standard driver.
