Good Handy Kitchen Knife
Have a set of expensive Cutco knives that include one paring knife. Need two and was using a Pampered Chef paring knife for years, however, that knife developed chips in the blade requiring replacement. Did need an expensive second paring knife and came across these Farberware knives. The brand, handle color ( same as the Cutco set), quantity, cost and the sheath with the built in sharpening device tipped the scale towards buying these knives.

Great little knife that keeps an edge
I ordered the larger knife like this after receiving this one. The edge does seem to dull a little quicker than some of my more expensive knifes but the case fixes the issue. I use these smaller knives on my fruits and veggies, and they are perfect.

Ideal for small knife work
I usually buy small, inexpensive paring knives which I discard once they dull or break. My home sharpener is similar to the sharpener built into this knife's case. I wanted to see if I preferred a paring knife with a proper sized handle and full tang construction to the knives I usually pick up at TJ Maxx.Pros:Slicing (cheese, small veg and fruit), pull cuts (cutting out eyes of potatoes, skinning tomatoes and onions), and push cuts (paring potatoes, carrot flowers) are all effortless.Handle is a comfortable size with a secure grip and knife is well balanced.Shaarp! The knife cover can be used as a sharpener if the knife handle is pushed down while removing the knife or used as just a cover if knife handle is left in the upper position.Rock solid attachment to my magnetic knife storage bar when the cover is off.Easy to clean, sticker on blade reminding my family to hand wash! Dishwashers dull blades quickly.Cover protects both the knife and fingers in the kitchen tool drawer.Con:Looks like a storm trooper weapon. I don't love the aesthetics, but the white handle matches my larger sanisafe knives.Overall, it's hard to go wrong at this price, but this paring knife performed admirably at a variety of tasks.

Just get a Rada paring knife.
I tend to use a Rada paring knife for just about everything. I saw this and thought it'd be nice to have a back-up paring knife. It seemed like a nice knife, but in reality it doesn't cut nearly as well, even after running it through the included sharpener a few times. The first thing I did with this after washing it was cube some potatoes. I used the Rada knife on those same potatoes to compare and there was a very noticeable difference. The cuts with the Rada knife felt much more smooth and easy. Then my husband sharpened it on our Rada knife sharpener and I tried it out again. It might have made it a little bit sharper, but I still prefer the Rada knife. I think part of it is that the Rada knife blade is a lot thinner and therefore goes through things more easily. This Farberware knife blade is more sturdy and doesn't bend at all, as the Rada does, but I am ok with that. The handle on this Farberware knife is ergonomic and comfortable to hold.

Excellent little paring knife
Arrived promptly, and packed in environmentally friendly padded paper Amazon envelopes which I like. We've historically used "hand-me-down" utensils in our RV for occasional camping trips. With some longer trips coming up this year, decided it was time to upgrade some items in there - especially critical cooking items like knives.First impressions - this is a very well balanced blade, and relatively sharp right out of the packaging. Based on the heft, it appears to be full-tang, with a triple riveted handle which is uncommon at this price point. The self-sharpening feature of the sheath was a major factor in selecting this model - one less item to carry in our limited camper space, and the anticipation of always having a sharp blade at our disposal. A few practice runs of sheathing/unsheathing confirm that feature is working as advertised. Not expected - the sticker on the blade reading "Hand Wash Only - Dry Immediately". I could see that with the sheath and sharpener bars, but unsure why that's an issue with the knife itself. Since we hand wash while camping anyway, it's not an issue for us but may be a consideration for you.Limited lifetime warranty is a solid plus! We'll see over time whether the sheath sharpener holds up, but I have little doubt in the knife itself.

Sharpener is Removable From Blade Cover
This knife arrived sharp straight from the factory and meets my cutting requirements satisfactorily. The blade bears a label instructing hand washing and immediate drying, despite being made of stainless steel. This surprised me, as I typically reserve such caution for my carbon steel knives. It's uncertain whether the tang of the blade extends fully to the end of the handle since the plastic handle is a single piece that slides over the tang.I must admit that I am not a fan of the self-sharpening feature of the blade cover. In my experience, this style of sharpeners tends to diminish blade quality. The sharpener is affixed with snaps on the sides, but I was able to remove it by lifting the gray plastic sides of the sharpener. Despite these considerations, the price point makes this knife a commendable choice, serving well as a spare paring knife for my needs.
