This book pulled me in; I couldn't stop reading. I was studying borderline personality disorder (BPD) at the time because it runs in my family. I had no idea this story was about BPD mothers--two generations and a wounded third who overcame the abuse. It will give you inside information about this disorder, how it forms and what it does to the child.

Making sense with Little Altars
To me, this is the best of the series. It sets the tone for what happens next. I love the image of Little Altars Everywhere. Those Little Altars are a way of trying to make sense of sometimes self-imposed chaos. There is a redeeming quality to the writing.

Read it again, and again, and again, and again....
I love these books. I believe every woman young or old should read these. I have read them over and over again and value them as a priceless part of my literature collection. The writing style is easy to follow but intelligent, the characters are so well created that you can feel every emotion right along with them. These books are an epic tale of growing up, of family and love and dysfunction. It's impossible to describe the intricate workings of the relationships in these stories. Nothing I say here can even begin to express how much I adore these novels.

Amazing
I had seen the movie twice, so I decided to check out the book. I was unaware of a prior book, so I read them both. This is a great story.
