Formed in NYC in the mid-'70s by David Byrne, Chris Franz, Tina Weymouth, and ex-Modern Lover Jerry Harrison, the Talking Heads evolved out of their now-legendary humble beginnings at CBGB's to become one of the most adventurous and influential bands ever. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, the Heads' visionary, polyrhythmic sound daringly combined funk and punk, African beats, avant-garde minimalism, and pure pop. From their 1977 debut through their Brian Eno-produced classics to their '88 farewell, Naked, they both pushed artistic boundaries and delivered indelible radio hits like โOnce In A Lifetimeโ and โBurning Down The House.โ Track List: 1. Had all but one hit
Had many songs I never heard before. Disappointed that it did not have "Stay up late" ,which I consider a hit. Otherwise had all I was looking for.

"There's a party in my mind, and I hope it never stops..."
"The Best of Talking Heads" is one of the most entertaining greatest hits album I own. The sound on these 18 tracks is superb, clean and crystal clear. Whoever was in charge of the re-mastering process did an excellent job. The album spans from 1977-1988 of this amazing avant-garde/new wave band from New York. David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison not only created great, catchy music together, but they also flawlessly wrote music that was way ahead of its time. I also feel that this band never really got the credit they deserved. Yes, they are in the Rock and Roll High of Fame, but they were never a big household name during their artistic peak. Anyway, you get a little bit of everything in terms of different styles of music: punk, funk, old school hip-hop, calypso, pop, grunge, (before it went mainstream) and dance. I like every song, but I think the 5 essential tracks on this collection are: "Found A Job", "Houses in Motion", "Girlfriend is Better", "Burning Down the House", and "Road to Nowhere". I feel like these songs brilliantly showcase the bands extraordinary diversity. Byrne's songwriting is quirky, absurd, (in a good way), but always comes across as sincere. There are so many different topics he writes about: making up your own t.v. shows, drugs, complaining about the "the good life", politics, psycho killers, paranoia, and of course love. There's a great cover of Al Green's "Take Me to The River", and the song that always makes me smile is "(Nothing But) Flowers". In "Flowers" - Byrne takes the opposite approach and reminisces about how there's no more 7-11's and how he "cant get used to this lifestyle..." and wants all the cornfields to vanish. I love Byrne's sarcasm and ironic nature. I've been listening to this greatest hits collection all summer. It's freakin' awesome! Just saying. So do yourself a favor and dip your toes in the weirdness that is the Talking Heads. Enjoy!
