I don't trust these for being waterproof on the trail,good for limiting food smells and keeping animals at bay.These rely on a rubber O ring and that can be tricky to get seated,being that many people over tighten the seal.These are not as effective as using a sealed box such as a high end cigar box.Boxes use clamping action for compression against the rubber seal.A screw down system is slightly more prone to user induced failure.In choosing a sealed jar, Pay attention to where the threads are located.These are threaded correctly, but I have encountered occasional cross threading issues.Likewise if you are pouring out supplements, you want a smooth inner surface with no threadsto get clogged with material.These function well.

Nice, fat rubber gasket works well to keep moisture out and smells in. Mine didn't leak at all while being totally submerged for a half-hour.The threading is nice and deep and the cap screws on smoothly and easily. I don't even think you could cross-thread it. I just tried and I couldn't make it happen.The outside surface is not smooth, but rough with concentric, circular marks from the machining process. I believe folks refer to metals with this texture as "grainy." It doesn't bother me at all. Inside, the walls are smooth and free of machining marks, but the floors are just slightly grainy. Nothing like the exterior, though.The aluminum is a soft variety, so it will get marked-up as it gets dropped and rubs against keys in your pocket, etc. This is exacerbated by the grainyness. Whatever. It won't affect the integrity of the container.Much better price than comparable items at the time of my purchase.

These jars are just okay. I collect vessels like this, and in general, prefer products that have thicker walls and a little more weight. The lack of mass in these make them feel a little cheap. Yes, I understand they are made of aluminum and aluminum is light, and that this may even be a selling point or positive attribute in some minds, but for me, it denotes that they weren't made to be durable, but to be low cost. I also wouldn't test the "smell proof" rating of these jars in any kind of real world scenario. You would be extremely foolish to gamble on a product like this keeping you safe.

Be sure to check the dimensions before ordering!! They seem high quality and well made. Threads were smooth to operate which is often an issue with cheaper screw top metal canisters. I didn’t pay close enough attention to the dimensions which was my bad. Unfortunately these were much too small for my needs. Returned without using them. But I’m sure they’ll work fine assuming whatever you want to put inside will fit.

Too short and stout for pouring ...or AA batteries.These are nicely made and not too heavy,but I don't like the stout models.We started using the thin and tall models because they pour better.

I don’t know about smellproof... but pretty close. Love these little jars.I don’t use them for travel. Definitely lighter than a glass option but heavier than plastic.

A little smaller than I thought, but still works great; just as advertised.

I used the bigger jar to hold my joints and the smaller jar to hold my bud. It squeaks a little but I don’t really mind since it’s easy to keep my stuff hidden and throw in my bag.
