We've been living in this house for twelve years. The smoke alarms were two years old when we moved in. They only last for ten, officially, so these did a great job. I can recommend them as replacements - they fit into the exact same bracket ( provided you buy the right make!)

The service life of these units is given as 10 years. I should have replaced it in 2019 (mfg/expiry date is marked on the thing). I have only replaced the body of the detector. The original wired base remains in situ and was reused. It's a little wasteful to have to junk the new base-plate - it would be better if you could by the detector on its own. Simple enough to remove the old body and swap in the new one - no tools required. Not a terribly exciting purchase, but a necessary one.

I have 5 of these all linked within my property. One of them went wrong and because of teh link, would set them all off. After lots of middle of the night alarm calls, I decided to just replace. As the base plates are common amongs these, there was no wiring, just slide of and slide new item in. Couldn’t be easier and satisfied with the product and pricing which was more competitive than anywhere else
