Painting With Acrylics: 27 Acrylic Painting Projects, Illustrated Step-By-Step With Advice on Materials and Techniques (Artist's Handbook Series)

This is the most comprehensive book on acrylics I've read in quite a while. You get a discussion of the history of acrylics, the obligatory media, tools, and techniques, and demos on everything from portraits (clothed & not so much) to still lifes, and nature to landscapes all in 176 pages. While those extra pages over the usual sized painting book does help a lot the book size is shrunk a bit to 9 1/2" x 7 3/4". I like what's written but every item discussed is way too brief. It's enough to barely cover the subject and less than you can find in any number of other books.If you're looking for an overall intro to acrylics in one book than this may be the book for you. If you know anything about acrylics beyond the basics look elsewhere. While the demos are numerous, they are quite brief and only give the overall ideas to follow in order to finish the picture. If you like detailed demos you'll be left high & dry while those of you who like the analysis of why everything is being done might really like these.
