Unearthing Puglia's Many Wonders
After reading Francesco's book on Southern Italy we immediately booked tickets for this fall to visit the Puglia area. He makes the cities and countryside come alive and your mouth water with the thought of all the delicious food and wine to try. Although we will visit Puglia first, I know there will more trips in the future to other regions in the south.

Informative and well written
This is an informative and well-written book about beautiful Southern Italy. It has an easy-to-read layout, and I love the cultural details included for each region. I liked it so much that I bought one of his other books. It's making me excited for my upcoming trip!

Very informative guide to Southern Italy
Last fall I visited Puglia after purchasing Petru’s first book on the area. It was invaluable!! He is a native Apulian who loves his country. His book was what induced me to visit this area and we spent several days in Puglia exploring Polignano a Mare, Alberobello, Monopoli, Ostuni and even Matera. He introduced us to the area, culture snd delicious foods. We loved the area, the people, and culture. We left planning our return again this year! I’m so excited that he has done another book on Southern Italia. It is packed with so much information and coming from a native from the area, who works on his family’s multigenerational farm it has an insight you don’t find in other travel books. If you plan to visit this area plan to do it with a native ‼️. Petru was invaluable in showing us Puglia, now we will return to explore more of Southern Italy with his new book in hand!

A Must Have
Last August we were planning a trip to Italy and we’re very interested in adding the Puglia Region. When we found Petru first book the information help us make the decision to rent a car and spend a week exploring. We we not disappointed. So when we started planning our next trip for 2024 and saw Petru second book we new we had to get it. We will be traveling farther south and with Petru vast knowledge, this book will help us once again. We can’t go wrong with a Apulian NativeThank you Petru

Meager Information
I was extremely disappointed, as I first flipped through the pages, to see that the print was large and there was not much information contained in this book. For the price, I expected much more. I returned it. I do not recommend this book.

A great guide
Italy is beautiful. This guide showcases the enchanting southern region with delightful descriptions and fitting photos. I enjoyed the virtual tour just paging through the different sights. The book has several links that take you directly to associated websites for visiting information and details. This was a sweet bonus.Overall this guide is perfect for the average tourist, the only drawback is that I love history and would have liked more historical details behind some of the landmarks. But that’s just me.I am looking forward to my trip to Italy.

Fun and well researched.
Francesco Giampetruzzi's "Southern Italy Travel Guide" is a fun and well-researched book. Although I have not tested the theory by being in Italy, I can sense from his words that he is native to the place, and once I do visit, the words will echo back. So this book is for anyone who is planning to visit southern Italy in the near or far, as well as someone who is just interested in breathtaking pockets of this planet.

HUGE disappointment, no real information here
So disappointed. I am not sure if the “author” wrote this using AI or if he just translated local tourist office info into English, but there is no critical analysis at all. Everything mentioned is “authentic” and “a joy”; there’s no information here that would help the reader choose one town over another. More importantly there is no “how to” information whatsoever, not even a list of what towns/cities have train stations. There’s a section about how lovely it would be to sail along the Calabria coast, but no listing of tour operators that provide sailing trips, no information about mooring should you happen to have a boat charter, and not even a list of ports. No hotels or restaurants listed at all. The accomodations section says “try Booking or AirB&B” - thanks, never would have thought of that! No sections on safety or cultural concerns. There are some lovely photos but no maps. Also, the Puglia section is 110 pages long vs only 34 for Calabria (which is why I bought this book: there are other better guidebooks for Puglia but relatively limited info in English on Calabria - and this book doesn’t add anything useful). Save your $37

Impressive
Impressive detail and information about a very nice area. Having been to Sorrento and the area before it was of interest to me. The pictures are beautiful and looks like Italy only has blue skies!Only missing thing are maps and travel plans.

not recommended
This book scores highly on flowery language and endless repetition, many paragraphs are completely interchangeable, and indeed some are just repeated word for word. Conversely there is scant if any detail in the book- one could write it out of one’s head. Imagine he even simply lusts booking.com and Airbnb for accommodation. Did we need to buy a book for that?

Not a single map !
I was hoping this would help plan a road trip of southern Italy. Sadly although it was good to summarise different regions, there was not a single map … so it wasn’t the right book for me unfortunately …
