Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 - PS4

I'm writing this to help anyone else out there who prefers physical media, over just digital content, or to help others who like me, are having a hard time finding out what exactly comes on the disc for this release. My PS4 is offline and I only update it, if a specific game requires the system to be a particular version (in my situation, the PS4 was on v9.51 and I think Master Collection requires at least v11.00 to play (so in theory in the future, if you get this game and try playing it on a PS4 that does not meet the software version requirements and you cannot update the console in any capacity, then yes, this game would be unplayable, despite the games (mostly) being on the disc). I like to see which games I buy physically are playable (to any extent) with what's provided by the disc content. For this release, all games are v1.0.0. All titles are playable from the disc (after installing the games to your PS4), except for the Digital Graphic Novels, VR Missions and Integral. Below is a breakdown of which language packs come with the disc, for each specific game (to keep things simple, all titles include the Master Book and Screenplay Books (for each respective title)). Metal Gear Solid European release with English (UK), French, German, Italian and Spanish languages included. English (NA) and Japanese releases can be downloaded as additional content. Metal Gear Solid Special Missions (European version of VR Missions) with English (UK), French, German, Italian and Spanish languages included. VR Missions and Integral must be downloaded as additional content and are not ok the disc. Metal Gear Solid 2 Includes English, French, Italian, German and Spanish languages. Japanese version must be downloaded. Metal Gear Solid 3 Includes both European and North American releases. European version includes the following languages; English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. North American version includes English, French and Spanish languages. Japanese version must be downloaded. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake Both games include English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese languages. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 Bonus Content Includes both Metal Gear (NES version (both North American and Japanese versions)) and Snake's Revenge (English only). Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel, Metal Gear Solid 2: Digital Graphic Novel, Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessineé and Metal Gear Solid 2 Bande Dessineé are not on disc and must be downloaded. The digital soundtrack is included Overall, I think this release is great. It provides a means to play these games in the future without a server to provide any required updates to function. The games all play fine, and if you intend to play this release offline, with no updates applied, you can play through a very strong segment of the MGS franchise (as long as your PS4 meets the firmware requirement). It's a shame that despite the PS4 version releasing some time after the initial release of Master Collection (on other systems), that on disc we do not get any of the updates that came out prior to the PS4 version getting released, or that not all the content is on disc. It is, what it is. I appreciate that this franchise has a healthy representation across multiple systems, and gives many a chance to either rekindle old memories or sneak their way through these games for the first time.

Three of the best games of all time!

First off, I got this on offer which was £35 for the PS4 version which has free PS5 upgrades! It made no sense paying an extra £2(£37) for the PS5 version just for a different case. So I got two versions of each game for a cheaper price, which means double trophy sets 😏👌🏻 not sure why anyone would buy the PS5 version in my opinion. The games themselves are fine, I was hoping MGS would have been 60FPS with a resolution boost but it's literally just a port, same with MGS2 & MGS3 which are just ports from the HD Collection as they have the watermark when launching the games EXCEPT in this bundle we get Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2 instead of Peace Walker which was originally included with the PS3 HD Collection that I also have. There are a bunch of other features in this collection though like the screenplay novels and master guide book which is good, there's also media player where you can listen to the soundtracks from the games. Overall, it's a good purchase for fans of the series on modern consoles BUT only if it's on sale! That's my opinion though, I don't think full price is worth the money. *I see they've adjusted the pricing after I pointed it out, sorry to everyone that can't get the PS4 version cheaper than the PS5 one now 😅*

Can't go wrong with these ports, I just wish we had a MGS1 HD version that's not Twin Snakes. Makes life easier with the PS4 when playing these games, definitely worth purchasing if you played these in the past

Dope 😎 Game from 1998 until now Revised to where the graphics are sharp like they use to be and consolidated games added all in one. If ya love Metal Gear like me and my bros did growing up and as adults this is definitely like the original with clarity🙏
