Good-looking hat, didn't work for me
I see all the flawless 5-star reviews and they inspire me to write this one to help manage expectations. This is a nice-looking hat. But it feels scratchy against my forehead and ears, and the band (with the tie string) shows and it doesn't look great. The hat is too big for my head and the tie squeezes too much. Things you need to know before you buy. It might work better for people with bigger heads or more hair.

Awesome hat! Liked it so much, I bought a 2nd in the other color.
I like this hat so much I bought it in both colors (brown and natural). It gives good brim (I have a skin cancer issue), feels light on the head and looks stylish (IMHO). I bought the L/XL which just fits my bulbous noggin (7 5/8's or 61cm) perfectly. In fact, I removed the internal sizing string from both hats because I don't need it. The hat grips my head snugly enough where it won't blow off in even a moderate breeze, but not so tight it is uncomfortable or mats down my hair. I haven't tested them yet for an all-day wear on a hot day, but I suspect that air will pass through the crown weave enough to give good ventilation. I like that the hat is soft and pliable, not stiff and hard like many straw panamas. I won't try to crush/pack them, even though I think they could take it. I don't know yet how they'll hold up over time, but they seem sturdy enough. Will update this review if I encounter any opinion-changing issues over time. But for now, very pleased!

Quality and Fashion
This hat is adorable. I took the chance in ordering it without trying it on and I'm so happy I did. It fits great and has an inside drawstring to adjust the size. keeps the sun out of my face while I'm golfing.

Beat Writer....Hawt Beat Writer.....
Well well well. It's cute. I guess you can decide how you think I look. But I think its a very high quality hat. I absolutely love the red design and beads. Gives such a nice extra detail. It is not really a sun protection hat, anyway. However, it does a great job keeping sun out of my eyes, which is what I wanted. And I wear hats for style and to avoid fussing with my hair on days off. This fits the bill (pun intended) extremely well. Now, this is my first wallaroo with the "adjustable" band inside. I recommend that wallaroo upgrade that feature somehow and make the inside band a soft microfiber to avoid dents on the forehead. This is a problem with many hats, and they may be just the company to make this improvement and do it well. I have a 22 inch circumference and it fits nice without having to tighten under typical circumstances. On a windy day it would blow away,, but so would most hats without a stampede strap......so, with my recent hat buying frenzy, I learned there's such a thing as a stampede strap that I can add in order to not chase my hat into the street if it blows away...Also, the hat IS packable with a taco fold. Haven't done that yet, but I did squish it, and it popped right back into shape. My husband told me that I looked like I was covering the local beat. He then corrected and said " a HAWT woman covering the local beat" lol. This hat will cover your ears very nicely and shade your eyes and then down to about right below your nose. It's great for sun protection in limited situations where you're not in direct sun for long periods. Going shopping, etc. Now, also, bear in mind that everyone should be using SPF 30+ only ZINC and mineral based for the face. So two types of protection are necessary because any hat will still let the rays penetrate from different angles. I moved to Florida last year and my sunburn history is atrocious and my likelihood to develop skin cancer is off the charts. So, I'm on a hat buying kick to provide myself protection from the life giving, life taking, beautiful and vicious orb. Thank you Wallaroo for supporting skin cancer research!! Another reason that paying a bit more made sense to me.

Outback? they can't be serious...
I was completely disappointed with this hat. It's too light and flimsy, and doesn't even hold it shape though it's brand new. I can't imagine it lasting more than a couple of months before it is so misshapen it can't be worn, and that is if it doesn't rain, in which case I wouldn't be surprised if the thing disintegrates like toilet paper. This hat was designed for an occasional weekend on the beach, definitely NOT for the "outback" or anything even close. I sent it back right away, and am sorry I ever bought it in the first place. If you are a tourist spending a few days on a cruise ship in sunny weather, this may work. If you are looking for a packable fedora that can withstand outdoor conditions, look elsewhere.

yes yes yes!!!
Big big fan of this hat! I have tried dozens upon dozen of hats to fit my itty bitty head as I needed one before going on a cruise. Talking kids size head here..... I searched and searched and searched hi and low with no luck before the cruise but had been eyeballing this one for a couple of years now. I thought “I really want this hat but I know it’s going to be huge on my head like everything else I’ve tried. Well I finally threw in the towel after purchasing a hat in Mexico that was too big and looked silly , thank goodness it was cheap, and broken down and bought this hat along with the kids trilby to see which works better. I love this hat hands down way better than the kids one. The kids one had a more rounded crown while this one has a more narrow crown which makes it look better on my head and not 4 sizes too big. While I will admit I do have to cinch up the drawstring some, it’s not as much as I thought it would be. Only thing I don’t love about this hat is, because I have to cinch up the string and after lengthy use in the heat, I'm left with a line across my forehead when I take it off. At this point, that is so minimal I don’t even care. I’m just glad I finally found a hat that I love and fits me like I want it to.

Super cute hat!
Super cute. Not a huge brim so not total sun protection. But I didn’t find it scratchy like other reviewers. I did have a big line on my forehead where u can tighten hat so I’ll try and loosen up a bit. But would definitely buy again! *** update*** no line on head after I loosened! Perfect!

If you want to get ahead, don't buy this hat
Don't be fooled by the model picture. The hat arrived and to be fair, it did resemble the product photo. Unfortunately, unlike the modeled photo, it is made from very soft fabric which holds no shape so you are left with two possible styles. Worzel Gummidge or village idiot. You adjust the hat by tightening a cord sewn to the inside of the hat. As soon as I tried to adjust the size, the sleeve holding the cord instantly came away from the hat due to weak stitching. The positives are that I believe it would protect my head from UV exposure, however a bin liner would do the same and I would look equally deranged. For the price, an absolute rip-off. Don't go near it. If you want to rummage around bins it will suit you. I regret refusing the hat my blind grandmother knitted for me when I was 7 years old.

Perfect on a clear sunny day.
Love it. There is nothing to dislike. It is light, airy and svelte (my wife would tell me if it wasn’t).I wear hats lightly, yet experienced no problems in moderate breeze.Won’t wear it on a sunny day with threat of showers ... it is only braided paper, after all.

Ticks every box
Outstanding! This hat ticks all the boxes, shades the face from the sun while not making the head hot. I have always used Tilley hats great at protecting the face but even the light and air flow ones make the head sweat. So this hats really is excellent. The adjustable nature works well and it looks really good!

Excellent hat with 50UPF
Excellent product. I have been looking for a suitable hat for some time and this has fitted the bill perfectly. During a recent spell of warm and sunny weather this hat has been an absolute godsend.
