I work on a massive hydro-organic basil farm, harvesting hundreds of pounds of basil twice per week. The main factors in my purchase of these shears were as follows;1. Quality/Solid reviews2. American Made.3. PriceOn top of that, Oak Ridge Garden is a Veteran owned/operated company, and as a Marine Corps Vet myself, they were my choice. The shears arrived when they were scheduled to, and looked very well constructed. My hands are rather large, so the oversized redwood handles give plenty of leverage when cutting. Unfortunately, after the first 45 days of use, the spring mechanism has ceased to function no matter how I adjust the tension nut. They still work, but I've had to remove the clasp at the bottom of the handle to prevent multiple unwanted closures.They're still sharp and still can be used for their intended purpose, just with more user input.

This is a beautiful tool, and a great concept. However, the wood handle broke upon first use. I had finished cutting two or three small blackberry vines (less than 1/4 inch thick). I put it in the holster, and then upon retrieving it moments later noticed that part of the wood handle had splintered off and disappeared. I hadn't dropped it, bumped it against anything hard, or anything. It may have been a fluke, but even so, there is a problem with quality control if it breaks that easily. I am having it sent back to Amazon for a refund, which saddens me, because it is truly a beautiful tool that I was hoping to be able to use for many years.

only gave it a 2 star for the sheath it comes with. these are longer than normal shears, these are more like scissors. they do NOT cut shrubs as normal shears would. the length is just one problem. you cannot get enough downforce (squeeze) to cut through even the thinnest stems and branches, and when you finally do using both hands it jams and clamps shut. The stops on the end of the handle misalign and get bound up and you have to pry them open to cut again. spend the extra money like I did and get a reliable well known professional brand like Felco, I returned these and bought Felco shears, Felco are the BEST shears I ever owned

Where have you been? I have been looking for you for months! Exceptional stainless bladed tool. Nice thick full tang blade, definitely not like so many others made today with a thin metal, part metal and mostly plastic. Exceptional, strong hidden spring. Lovely wooden handles with full brass rivets. The only think I am concerned about is the clasp. It is questionable, a bit thin but none the less good. - Oh, almost forgot - excellent leather sheath with belt clip - I am in tool heaven.

I can't explain how please I am with these sheers. I ordered them only by reading the reviews and then I looked up the company website and saw that they are family owned and operated and made in the great state of TEXAS. I received them today beautifully wrapped in a box with satin lining. the sheds actually look and feel better than i expected. they have a very comfortable handle but not heavy, the rich leather case is impressive and I like the easy but yet traditional locking clip at the base. The sheers cut so smooth that I wish that this product was easily available at home depot or our local hardware stores.

The pruners really look nice, and somewhat well constructed. The lititle lock on the end to keep pruners closed is pretty good, however, I have already bent this, after only a few uses, and does not work anymore. The pruners are good on small limbs, and have a notch to use on bigger branches. Overall the cutting action is fair and there is nit enough leverage to cut branches easily.

The overall quality of this product is excellent , however, on first use the clip that holds the handles closed for easy insertion into the leather holder got accidently squashed and broke away from its mount on the handle. Compared to the rest of the product this is a a very low quality and tinny catch and should be rectified by the manufacturer for future production runs.I returned the product to Amazon and they replaced it with a new one without any fuss and no charge for freight either way.Good service and customer relations Amazon!!

This is a solidly made garden shear. Sharp, versatile, and the quality is obvious. As an avid gardener, I will put these shears to a lot of good use, and they should last a long time. These are some of the most well constructed shears I've seen available for gardeners. They are also useful for other applications, besides the garden.
