hardware is good, stock UI is pretty terrible, especially for the EQ settingsrockbox works much better, but no bluetooth (i use wired headphones so not an issue)

GREAT REPLACEMENT FOR MY AGING IPOD
I recommend this player. Versatile and well made. This was a great replacement for my aging Apple Classic iPod. A few observations.MENU: The menu system takes a while to figure out and be comfortable with.CARD STORAGE: I have 8,000 songs loaded on a memory card. I did not use the OTG feature. Note: The player relies on the memory card for storage. There is no onboard storage on the player itself. I needed a memory card reader to load files on the card from my PC. Don't lose the card unless you have a spare!LOOP WHEEL: Not as easy to operate as the click wheel on my iPod Classic. It takes a little more pressure to engage.REPEAT ALL: Function works well for songs, albums and artists. Hard to figure out how to do until I read the FAQ,SOUND QUALITY: Very good. I have both FLAC and AAC files loaded. Both sounded great. I have picky hearing. AAC sounded surprisingly good. I used a $20 pair of headphones. Never felt the need for a more expensive pair. Sound can be adjusted with an equalizer, replay gain, low/high gain adjustments. The unit also doubles as a DAC for your PC. Very nice!BUILD QUALITY: Excellent. Surprisingly hefty for its size.

This is a very good player.
I've had several music players, nothing very expensive, this one is very very good. I liked my old Creative Zen better, but they stopped making them years ago. The sound quality from this player is great even with having it loaded with MP3s and not loss less format files like FLAC. It has physical buttons that I prefer, so not touchscreen. The random play function, while not perfect, works much better then other players I've had. The battery life is good. The drawback is that it is still a chore to create a playlist if you like playlists. The Zen had an interfacing app for connecting to a PC and creating a playlist via the app was simple drag & drop with a mouse - like with the legacy MS Mediaplayer. Maybe higher end, higher priced, players make this easier, but I would be in hot water if I spent $500+ on one of those. Bottom line, I really like it.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY, SIGNIFICANT DEFECT MAKES IMPRACTICAL FOR MOST PEOPLE
READ THIS! This deficit makes the player useless for most people.Once the unit enters power saving mode and the screen goes dark, you cannot forward or reverse the song tracks using bluetooth or the front buttons on the unit. You must hit the power on button to reactivate the display, wait, and then advance or repeat the song track. So if you are lying at the pool you will be constantly pushing the on button if you want to advance songsRESPONSE FROM HIFI Walker Tech SupportHello,When the screen is black, it is thought that it enters the lock screen mode, and only the volume key is useful at this time, and other buttons cannot be operated. If you need to operate other buttons, press the on key once to light up the screen. And your player is already equipped with the latest firmware version, ensuring you have the best possible experience. No update is necessary at this time.Best regards,HIFI WALKER customer serviceI am about done with buying things from Amazon too. They would not allow me to return the item to the Staples down the street. They tried to make me go to Whole Foods several miles away. I told them to have UPS pick up at no cost to me. Then they said they would just refund the purchase price and I would not have to return the item and guess what, no refund. If I can purchase something anywhere else and it is modestly more expensive to do so I will because Amazon is too difficult to deal with.

Working great
This has been in use for a several months and I have had no issues so far. I have added, deleted, and changed the playlists and no issues. All the controls are functioning just the way they should.

Excellent product for the price.
An impressive D`a`p for such a budget price. It has a solid build quality and the operation is easy and intuitive. The sound is much better than `I expected at this price, it’s not top of the line audiophile quality but is actually very very good for a budget friendly player.I swapped the included 64 G`b card for a 256 `gB loaded with Hi-res flac files at various quality from 16 bit 44.1 all the way up to 24 bit 192 and all were handled with no problem.I connected a 2TB portable SSD Drive to the USB port and again it handled everything very well.I was able to easily connect my phone to the Daap and send high quality files from TIDAL, QOBUZ, and DEEZER with no proble. .I also used the DAPs Bluetooth to connect Bose headphones and Sennheiser wireless ear buds, again with no issues. All sounded very good, as did several different headphones connected by wire to the headphone jack.Overall I find it to be a great little player at a budget price.

Poor Bluetooth connectivity
Device is sounding not bad, though maximum volume is not enough laud.Main issue of that device is Bluetooth connectivity: first- if you turned off this player,it wouldn’t connect with your Bluetooth headphones automatically on its next start( you have to go in settings and manually pair and connect your headphones-which should be in pairing mode too-again),which is annoying;second-some headphones( for example-my hi-res) wouldn’t connect again, whatever you tried (even complete reset would not help). Which make that device useless( as you paid for wireless over Bluetooth ,not wired, player).Very disappointed and had to return.
