Its a Construction Kit folks!
Dumas make traditional KITS. What you get is a plan, some tissue paper, and in this case, laser cut balsa wood. With only one or two exceptions, the entire Dumas range is supplied with a propeller and a length of rubber strip, and all but a couple of them are free-flight, in other words, NO RADIO, or engine, or electric motor. However, this does not mean radio control and electric motors can't be fitted, and the plans will usually have details about how to do this, if you want to buy some extra parts. These particular [Dumas] kits really are a joy to build, if that's your thing, and they fly well too. They require the use of tools, like a building board, glue, dope, knives, pins and pliers- simple stuff. Add a pinch of skill, and when they are completed, and they fly, it is immensely satisfying. Google "free flight scale" to get the idea. Throw in a couple of books, and it can be a real learning experience in terms of handling tools, and understanding aerodynamics. Balsa models don't take well to being trodden on, so their repair is another thing you'll probably learn about quickly, too.TIP- Photocopy the laser cut sheets before you start, wing ribs and formers aren't always shown on the plan! However, they are not well suited for "instant gratification" types. Dumas make KITS, and you are not going to pluck a ready made toy from the box and go straight to the park with it. You have to MAKE IT, and for the serious aeromodeller, that is a major part of the fun. If you were to really get to work, you might complete one of these in a fortnight. If the joy of making stuff is where its at for you, you will not get a better start than with a reasonably sized, stable high-winger like this one. Its not RC, but it can be made to be. There is NOTHING in the product description mentioning RC, apart from the name of the distributor selling the kit. It is rubber powered and designed to fly automatically.
