As an Interior Designer with a passion for creating designs that perfectly suit their occupants I felt that I already had a pretty good idea about this subject but always enjoy learning more. I really loved this book for its insights into how differer personality traits can effect the whole design process.The way this book was written makes it an easy and accessible read whilst also covering the complexities of designing for various personalities including helpful advice on how to go about designing spaces where different personalities have to share the space. Michelle obviously knows her subjects (psychology & interiors) and presents the information clearly.I loved the various quizzes that help establish where you fall on the ‘Big 5 / OCEAN’ model of personality and would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in creating a home for themselves or in a professional capacity for others.

I’m quite confident about my style and interior tastes, but this book gave me a deeper understanding about what drives those preferences. I loved the quizzes and learnt more than I expected about how my personality, memories, and passions have influenced the way I’ve decorated my home. It’s a brilliant book whether you need confidence with interiors, or just want to learn more about yourself so you can continue to embrace choosing what best reflects your personality.

I didn't think of myself as someone "into" interior design, but I am very keen on psychology. What you notice as soon as you pick this book up is how colourful and extremely attractively designed it is; it's not just the text that's full of ideas. Reading it, you find that this book isn't telling you how you should design interiors. It's using personality psychology to get you to think about your own needs and how your living space serves them. It's full of questions and provocations, a bit like a chatty friend who is getting to know your tastes. Is your home a relaxing refuge from the stresses of the world? Is it an inspirational space, full of colourful mementoes?I came to see that, while I thought I had never done interior design, I have been shaping my home to my personality in all sorts of ways, and I need to embrace those as positive choices.I've given this book a top rating not to imply that it's my favourite book, or the most transformative book ever, but because I sincerely can't imagine a better book on this topic, both as a source of ideas and as an object exemplifying imaginative and careful design.

Reading this book made me realise a lot about my home as it relates to my personality and what things make me feel comfortable and happy in my home, which is to do with so much more than what colours to paint the walls etc. I found this book insightful, accessible and really interesting.

The media could not be loaded. I bought a hardback copy of this book at a launch party. Not only is it a really useful book, each chapter like having a helpful friend advise you on interior design, but it's beautiful to look at. There are tempting pictures of interiors, which are sure to spark ideas. The quizzes are fun too.I would recommend the book to anyone, and will treasure my copy.

Having spent the last 15 years pondering why my husband and I can never agree on the best way to go about any home decorating projects, the combination of interior design, psychology and descriptions of our personality traits has made things much clearer. It turns out that it’s not simply a case of my husband always being wrong!!It’s such an interesting read and I now understand myself a lot better. Rather than getting frustrated with myself due to the 45 swatches of grey paint on the wall of my salon, I can at least understand why this happens and next time I can hopefully make the decorating process a lot less painful for all concerned!Michelle combines her passion for her subject with easily accessible quizzes, information and stunning photography, all of which have created a book that not only looks beautiful but is also a joy to read.

To end up with what you love and want to surround yourself with. You’ll be able to sit back and relax in surroundings that suit you!An interesting and intriguing read.

I loved the cross over between interior design and psychology and when delving into personality traits, it explained why my other half and I can never agree on how to decorate our home! It’s a fascinating read and easy to navigate meaning creating the home of your dreams is totally achievable. Off to paint a feature wall….!
