A breath of fresh air
Great Album, I think is by far Joell's best album so far. I can play the album straight through no skips (although Candy is not my cup of tea). My standout tracks are definitely Brother Keeper and Phone. The House Gang kill that track (w/ 5'9 getting my #1 pick) and Phone is a crazy story showing Joell's versatility. Joell kills every track w/o being too lyrical, all in all it's a great album that will get mad play from me. The best album of the year so far but its still a few months left.

But average beats and good lyrics don't always mix
The album starts off really well but fades the back half. I was anticipating this one but kind of let down. Its a few bangers on here but most of the beats are just average. Joell is on point with his lyrics. But average beats and good lyrics don't always mix. I recommend getting his FREE AGENT album. He was more hungry and his word play was astronomical before SLAUGHTERHOUSE. If you're a hardcore Ortiz fan, swoop it but if not, wait until the new SLAUGHTERHOUSE cd.

A lot of standout tracks like Phone, my brothers keeper , and music saved my life. Would have liked Joell to go super lyrical but his bars are still better than 90% of what's out there now. This album was well worth the purchase.

Ortiz delivers his best work yet and the track music saved my kife is phenomenal and as fan I thought he wasn't better as solo listening to his last lp however after hearing house slippers I can see why slaughterhouse chose him to rep NY

It's nice journey.
He starts off with a strong song the embodies hip hop. Then accompanies it with supporting songs, displaying where he is today musically and mentally. It's nice journey.

Lyrical Transparency
My first time listening to Joell outside of Slaughter House. I'm upset that I slept in him for years. With this album he really brought me into his life and back to my old stomping grounds, BROOKLYN!

The New Man
This cd right here is mature. This is the new beginning for this man. It's a straight listen for me. No tracks to skip. It's not a holy s*** album or a bad album. It's a tight album. A hip-hop album.

Great album from top to bottom.Good classic old fashion hip hop.Can't pick a bad track on this album.My personal favourites are Music Saved My Life and My Brothers Keeper.This album just has a nice smooth feel to it easy listening.Well done Joell Ortiz on a great album cannot stop listening to it.
