Screen Protection: ASIN: B002NZVCRA & ASIN: B002QINY8E
Apparently there are two clear plastic protector cases available for the iPod Nano 5th Gen (with camera) that LOOK the same and have VERY similar descriptions, but in fact, they are fundamentally different! One case covers the screen completely and the other doesn't cover it at all (the plastic is cut out in order to have the screen completely open, so there is no screen protection).ASIN: B002NZVCRA: "Apple iPod Nano 5th Generation (with Camera) Transparent Clear Snap On Crystal Plastic Hard Cover Case" -This clear, hard plastic case does MAY or MAY NOT cover the iPod screen; I wrote to two vendors and got two COMPLETELY different answers...for the SAME ASIN number! So, if it makes a difference to you, then contact the seller before purchasing. Seller "importer520" wrote me this: "The product is a full cover case. It will cover the screen of the iPod Nano 5th Gen. Also, there is no separate screen protector film." However, seller "SF Planet" wrote me: "It will have an open screen (does not cover the screen) and it does not include a screen protector." If the plastic is cut out to leave an open screen, I guess that style is for people who want to view the screen without looking through a plastic covering, hey... some people do want the purity; I can appreciate that! It does NOT say in the Product/Technical details/description whether or not the hard plastic is cut out for the screen portion, and you can't tell from the pictures! This product is stand-alone; it does NOT come with a separate screen protector film (I asked) or a carrying pouch. This is sold by about 17 different sellers and several are selling between $1.40 - $2 (including shipping) as of this writing. I wrote to Amazon about this and forwarded the seller's emails; it seems like there should be two different product numbers if one case has screen protection while another doesn't.ASIN: B002QINY8E: "(5 Color Option) iPod Nano 5th Generation 5G clear crystal hard case with 5th Gen screen protector, clear hard screen cover with MiniSuit TM Mp4 Pouch" - this hard plastic casing DOES COMPLETELY cover the screen. My teenager has this. She doesn't mind the screen being covered by the hard plastic casing since it's clear and she likes the added protection. This product also comes with two other items: a carrying pouch AND a secondary screen protector (clear film) that you can use if you want (added protection against dust I suppose, but I don't know for sure). It does say under Product Features that the screen is fully covered. I just ordered two at .99 each + $2.95 shipping (for both) from seller "MiniSuit;" i.e., right now, you can get one for about $4 or 2 for about $5. This is a good deal, because when I got this for my daughter last Christmas, I paid $1.82 + 2.95 shipping for just one! The pouch it came with is still in good shape, but the case is getting pretty scratched up after almost 8 months of use. The seller doesn't offer the option of selling the case without the pouch (although I just wrote and asked them to consider doing so).Personally, I like a case that protects the screen as much as possible since it doesn't affect the picture quality (at least not enough that we can tell). If someone is careful with their iPod though, and wants completely unimpeded viewing, then the case with the cutout would be the right choice for them.As for difficulty in re-opening the cases, from what I've gathered in the Reviews, removal is possible by inserting something like a paper clip or butter knife between the two halves, on the left side of the Hold button or at the bottom edge of the case, and work your way up to loosen one side. Then repeat on other side.Regarding the screen protector film that comes with the MiniSuit product, apparently there is no need to remove the tab; the tab is attached to another piece of plastic film that is supposed to get removed.I wish Amazon would add a section in the Reviews for the Product ASIN and name of seller in order to avoid SO much confusion between products that look alike! I think there are Reviews for each product in the other product's area, which is further complicated by one of the product numbers having two different features! I am posting this in BOTH product areas to hopefully help clear up the confusion!

iPod Nano 5th Gen Preservation
This acrylic transparent/clear snap on case/cover for the 5th generation iPod Nano is ideal. My recent order is a replacement, yes, but only after several years of use and some abuse to my nothing cheap about an iPod Nano and hardcover case combo. I've stuck it in purses, packs, luggage, and pockets holding keys, change or other materials that when up against, one would think there'd be a scratch or two from bouncing and/or rubbing against it. Not so. I've had other devices w/clear hardcover cases that my fingernail could/would leave a mark, but not with this model case. I've dropped the iPod in the case on far too many occasions and not lifted it up to find chips or substantive scratch, unless the drop was to a gravel or cement surface and I didn't use care in lifting straight up, but allowed a "swipe," to grab/snatch it back up (disappointed at dropping the Nano and worrying about creating issues with that Apple product more than concern over the case. Here, the price was really right, having paid more in the range of $15 (plus or minus a buck and change) for my prior acrylic case. The clear allows me to enjoy my color choice as it should be, and the space after connected leaves me room to use preferred over-the-ear headphones vs earbuds plugs, which in my case set into the device in an "L" shape, not straight up "peg" as the earbuds come. I wholly endorse it! Don't rate much with 5-stars, always hoping that manufacturer and/or retailer will pursue even better quality from great to greater, or I'd have clicked all the rating stars... but then, I also am stingy with my use of the Love word... hehe.

Great value, but tough to snap on
For $1.50, this case is perfect. I love being able to throw my Nano in my bag without worrying that it will get scratched or broken. My iPod has been in the case for about 6 months now, and the case hasn't broken or popped apart in that time. This case gets the job done, and it gets it done cheap.I have to say, though, that it was almost impossible to get the case on in the first place. I tried several times and couldn't do it. My boyfriend was able to snap it on after fiddling with it for about 20 minutes. I'm not sure if mine is defective, or if it is just a very tight fit. Either way, definitely something to keep in mind.Unfortunately, a crumb did manage to make its way inside the case and is now sitting right on top of the screen. I'm afraid to take the case apart, since it was so difficult to snap on originally. It doesn't bother me, so I may just leave it, but please be aware that the case doesn't necessarily keep little crumbs out.ETA: I finally took the case apart to clean under it. It was MUCH easier to snap on the second time around. It went right on with no problems. It was easy to see, once I took the case off, that there are many small scratches on the case. My iPod, however, looks as shiny and perfect as the day I bought it! This case has really been a lifesaver.
