Ruthless People [DVD]

I saw this when it first came out and was glad to find it again in these COVID-19 times. Just the medicine the doctor ordered - superb performances by all, but especially by Bill Pullman as Earl. Laugh-out-loud moments still there, neat dialogue, superb reactions on faces nicely caught. Even the tiny cameos, eg the would-be mugger, well worth watching. And a lovely plot twist right at the end, what's not to like?

"Ruthless People" deserves to be part of the top ten humorous films ever made. Don't expect to laugh out loud, but you will smile inwardly throughout. Pay attention to the backgrounds in a lot of takes : it means that you may have to view the film twice, but it will be a delight.

Watched this on TV when I was around 20 and somehow just vaguely remembered the story as quite funny !So watched it again and still liked and laughed a lot - Bette Midler and Danny de Vito are just great !

The brilliant actors and a clever daft plot make this 80's comedy well worth watching even in 2020. It is of it's time, sometimes verging on the Naked Gun kind of humour, with elements of farce, and if you can ignore all the gender and other stereotypes of the day you can just enjoy a very funny film....

This is a little predictable, but so funnyyy. The characters work very well together. We had a family night in to watch this film again. This is probably our 3rd if not our 4th time of watching this film. We never tire and we love it.

Genuinely funny comedy with a couple of Airplane! / Naked Gun moments. It's very 1980's, the utterly tasteless wealth on show should have got a screen credit. Mostly entertainingly over the top - just enjoy!

This is one funny movie, don't even hesitate to buy this unless you have absolutely no sense of humour, and even if you haven't buy it anyway!Danny DeVito is hilariously despicable, and Bette Midler - well what more can be said about Bette that hasn't already been said, she's great, what a character! I ordered this film as I had a hankering for a bit of nostalgia and it wasn't a disappointment from the first time I watched it.Silly plot, ham acting, 80's fashion and totally wonderful
