The Raccoons: Season 2 [DVD]

The Raccoons are back again with new extras!
Well after a long while of waiting, Raccoons fans were rewarded with this very exellentily designed DVD box set. Not only is the pakaging quite nice, but the disks overall are awsome. You get a booklet like with the last set which has an episode synoposis for all 10 episodes in this season. 8 of these episodes were from PAL master tapes, while the other two were from NTSC tapes and the PAL episodes are missing their preview segments, but that's not big a loss. The on disk episode synoposis feature actually makes up for that a little, though it's the same descriptions of the episodes as written on the booklet itself. The reason for the DVD release being delayed was because Fabulous Films were putting together something which I'd never thought they would actually do, new extra features. The new features are, original drawings of each of the characters and some of the minor ones from various seasons, rotation drawings and a new image gallery, as well as the character profiles feature that we had with the last set. Butthe real gem is the new behind the scenes documentry where Kevin Gillis, Sheldon S. Wiseman, Gerald Tripp and a few others were interviewed about the Raccoons and Kevin explans how he enjoyed bringing this series to life.So was it worth the wait, in my opinion it was. So I defenatily recommend you buying this awsome DVD set, a must for any Raccoons fan!

Childhood favourite cartoon.
I've bought a few of my childhood cartoons. I have previously bought the first season of The Raccoons. Apparently they made 5 seasons but I have only found seasons 1&2. Guess I will keep looking. As for the price and delivery. Under a tenner and arrived before it said it would. If I am able to find more seasons, I will definitely buy them.

Bit of nostalgia!
I just remembered watching this cartoon on Saturday mornings before Going Live! I loved the adventures of Burt and the raccoons and the best cartoon baddy Cyril Sneer. A fantastic DVD and so nice to be able to reminisce of the 80s.Great montage music too!!

Essential feel-good viewing
Possibly the greatest of the eighties Sunday-morning cartoons, 'The Raccoons' really gets into its stride with series 2. Stories and characterisation have real punch and have aged well, and the pulsing New Wave soundtrack (a cult item in itself) is actually beginning to feel quite at home.Picture and sound on the disc are excellent, noticeably better than series 1 on my machine.Though I think Cyril Sneer may still frighten the very youngest of viewers (and rightly so, he's a nasty and superbly incorrigible piece of work!) this remains essential viewing for almost all ages. There's something here for everyone, and it'll usually leave you with a warm feeling inside. That's its magic. This is how it's done.
