This is a great very affordable auto darkening welding helmet. Now keep in mind this is a budget helmet so don't expect it to be the most fancy but if you're on a budget then this is an excellent choice. This unit has 2 light sensors and 2 IR sensors for rapid darkening. The headgear is pretty comfortable and can be size adjusted via a dial in the back. The hood comes with a bunch of extra outer shields to protect the actual lens. There are many setting options to adjust the darkening level. Darkening speed and various other settings. If you need a great budget welding hood than this is an excellent choice.

Great helmet for beginners at a great price but good enough for most hobble welders. I can’t imagine having a need for anything more upgraded than this unless you weld for a living. Better than expected vision

This is a tough one to rate.... I don't know much about welding helmets other then we need a new one out in our shop. Farmlife requires welding from time to time and our current helmet is super old and in pretty rough shape. I did some research on helmets and asked a dear friend who owned an industrial fabrication business for years to take a look. Asked another friend who welds.. a lot.Mary gave it a good look over, thought it was suitable for what we needed but not for a professional welder. It is lightweight hard plastic and she felt there wasn't enough venting as things can heat up when you spend hours welding. She loved the options and the lens. I love the way it is so easy to adjust.Clark also took a look, read the manual and gave it a once over. I asked him if he thought the plastic was too thin and he said most are all this way and it was nice and light. He felt it is a nice helmet and a good buy. Seems to fit us all and is easily adjusted.If you are looking for an inexpensive helmet with some pretty cool tehnology this will work great. This is a huge upgrade for us and will hold up well for light duty. We are not pros and we weld just a few times per year and really just easy stuff.Worth the price and I would say higher quality then most in this price range.

I think this helmet has a great feature set. It was easy to use, well packaged. Adjustable head band. The adjustable speed at which the IR sensors work is a great feature, to return to natural light once welding is complete.When flipping the mask up and down, it seems the only way to do so is by keeping the screws loose. But, that'll make it flimsy and want to fall off. Maybe that's the case with most of these, but it drove me crazy. Otherwise I'd have rated it higher.Seems like the settings and lens treatments/options are great. The lightweight plastic just feels kinda cheap. But, many these days are that way. So, if the shell lasts, it seems like you'll have a good welding mask. If something hot lands on it, or something it makes sense that it wouldn't last long. But, I'll try to update for that kind of feedback.

With this auto shading helmet and welding tools I was able to do some of my first welding jobs. I was pleased with how light it was and allowed adequate ventilation. The auto shading worked super well, and provided the necessary safety. Easy to adjust and has a solid price point. Very grateful for this product, and anticipate it will be in great order for days to come.

I don’t weld a lot, but when I do, it’s really nice to have an auto-darkening helmet. My last helmet was just a cheap one that broke after about two years, but this Athelmet T500 is a huge upgrade. It’s easy to see through, and the auto-darkening works really well. The control interface is easy to understand, and it’s easy to adjust the settings. I love the preset setting for grinding. It makes it really easy for those projects where I’m grinding down a piece of metal before welding it onto my project, without having to constantly switch between my welding helmet and my grinding goggles. Overall, this is a really great helmet for a pretty reasonable price.

For the price, I was expecting a cheap unit. However I was surprised and it's actually quite usable. I have a shield from HF, and it is very slow to react. This one, while still just a touch slow (I did test all settings) is actually quite good! No, it's not $600 good, but at 10% of that price, very well worth that money! I'm just a home/farm welder and this fits the bill perfectly! And as others have stated, it comes with a lot of replacement lens covers! Recommended.
