So versatile and brilliant quality
Excellent quality and does exactly what it says it does. Easy to apply and leaves no streaky marks when applied properly as per the instructions. I’ve used it in a number of different situations and it’s been brilliant in all of them.

Does what it states.
Used other products to first clean and revitalise roof on my 27 year old Saab convertible bought new in 1996. Over time have tried to keep roof in as good a condition as possible. Roof remains in one piece and fairly good condition but living out in the “sticks” do get a lot of green on the roof from trees etc. Do mainly keep in my garage though. Anyway based on reviews took a chance on this product. As I said used two other products from another manufacturer to get roof as clean as possible and ready for this to be put on. Choose a dry day with no rain forecast the following day. My roof still had some green from trees etc. on it so was hoping this product would cover everything. Should not have worried as the black “paint” covered everything perfectly and gave a great covering all round. Just make sure you do roof in one go. I did one side of roof then went round to other side immediately to do that to avoid any paint lines. Use a soft bristle brush that is normally used for gloss paint and did have enough to go over all areas again. Could you use a gloss roller? Possibly but you would not get into the corners of the roof very well and this is where I had the green from trees etc. It covered them and everything perfectly. As you go round though doing the “painting” make sure you have plenty of rags. This is to wipe any running paint off glass and bodywork immediately as it states could become hard to remove if left too long on paintwork. 100% coverage and all green from trees etc. totally covered. After leaving for a day or so then put a final protection coat (different product) on top of paint and roof really looks nearly new. I knew it had done a good job as when out driving saw someone turn round and take a second look at car. They must have thought that roof looks great for a “P” regd. enough said. The whole process of using various cleaners, final black paint and then protection product was hard work but results totally worth it.

Good Product
This product is easy to apply and gives a good finish however one bottle is not enough to give a full size hood a good covering. Would be better if this was sold in a 1 litre container which would reduce packaging rather than having to buy two bottles.

Soft top restorer
Pleased with the results of my black soft top was going bit grey, aged etc but like new now manage do two coats with it which was obviously better result , easy to apply too. You just have to be careful applying it because it's a thin liquid dye and can drip or run but wipes of easy and dries quick .

Good stuff
Excellent! I used white vinegar and water to remove mold effectively. After applying this the soft top looked like new (only one coat). I've applied the Protex waterproof solution now and will review that product in six months after I have tested the effectiveness. What I will say is that it went on easily.

It didn’t work for me - But customer service was good.
I really wanted to say this worked well. As well as others have posted. But unfortunately in my case, it didn’t. I’ll also mention that customer service from Protex was brilliant after I contacted to raise my concerns. Purchased a 1L bottle following feedback from others that the smaller size wasn’t enough. I spent considerable time cleaning and prepping the convertible as per their instruction videos (which are easy to follow, precise and to the point). I then proceeded to poor the solution into a small paint bucket and work into the car roof, section at a time from the centre outwards. The solution itself is very thin and watery so I found it splashed over myself and the paintwork. A wipe with APC or detailing spray quickly removed that though. I had also taped the windows to try and mitigate any spillage. I put one coat on and left for around 5hrs (the instructions advise a minimum of 3) - It was an overcast day with no rain so I didn’t face some of the warm sunny issues that others have. I didn’t noticed much difference so followed up later in the day with a second coat and left to dry. The result: Very little difference in colour. The car roof (originally black) remained a faded black colour and the crease marks look more exaggerated than before. I then went around the sides with a third coat to try and hide the crease marks. Aware that this needs following up soon after with a waterproof solution, I applied Fabsil Gold before the rain was expected. This went on fine and has protected the roof since. I contacted Protex as, after one litre, the car looked no different. They offered a replacement and explained some reasons why that could have been the case (I can’t fault their service) but as I applied the Fabsil waterproofed, another cost of canvas dye can no longer be applied - As a water-based product, it won’t bond to the fabric due to the Fabsil barrier. Conclusion: I have seen other reviews with brilliant results and, having followed each step in careful detail, can only put my experience down to perhaps a weaker batch. I haven’t noticed a difference in colour despite the multiple costs and now it’s been waterproofed, there’s nothing I can do. Will have to continue with a faded black roof with crease marks.

Excellent product
Just what I needed to restore my convertible roof as it had been parked under a tree for over a year. Dries quickly, colour fade resistant and helps protect your roof from further degradation. Great quality better than others on the market due to how effective it is. Excellent cleaning power.

I was very pleased with the Protex products. After applying the conditioner I put the water proofing on and had the finished product. It was enough to do a convertible top on a four seater. The top is 12 years old and looks new. Water beads very well after the treatment.

I had a Mercedes CLK with a blue soft top, which didn't quite match the silver bodywork. So I used this product to not only restore, but to change the actual colour of the soft top fabric to black. I followed the instructions, firstly masking off the car with commercially available paint drop-sheet plastic and masking tape (well worth doing first so as to prevent dye spots on the paintwork), then using a soft paintbrush to apply the restorer. It took 3 coats to achieve the satisfactory black finish, but the result is great. I finished off by applying 2 coats of waterproofing spray agent to protect the fabric finish and to mak the sot top weatherproof. All in all, a great result.

Wear gloves! Hands came clean using pumice soap & water- instructions regarding clean-up on bottle are 'brief'. The Convertible Soft Top Canvas Restorer in Black applied easily using a 2'' foam brush and a small tray. Applied outdoors at 12C . Clean-up while still wet was easy, required some effort (nothing major- just a vigorous rub with a clean cloth) to clean from paint once dry. Dried to an even, black finish. Excellent 'like-new' effect with no streaks or splotches- nothing at all to indicate that the top hadn't just been replaced by a new one. There is enough Restorer left to do another small (Porsche) convertible top completely again should that be necessary. Overall quite satisfied with the result which nicely undid the appearance of 'fading' caused by inappropriate water-proofing agent. Have happily discovered an 'off-label' use. If carefully applied it nicely restores the finish on leather steering wheels!

Great product, easy to apply, works great, little pricey but way cheaper than replacing the top, will buy again and again, also just a small amount was needed to cover the top on my solstice.
