A Delightful Story
I purchased this chapter book about two years ago when my daughter was just 4 1/2 years old. Since then, both my husband and I have read the story to her several times. Now that she's in First Grade, she is pretty much able to read it for herself--thank goodness!--with some minimal help. The story is very sweet, and there are some lovely illustrations throughout the book. I have to admit that when I first read the story (I've had to read it several times! LOL) I enjoyed it almost as much as my daughter did. This story is about a little girl, Laurel--FYI the book blurb incorrectly has the little girl's name as Marina--who is chosen to sing a solo in the upcoming Royal concert. Ariel has been helping Laurel practice her solo, and the two have become friends. When Laurel suddenly disappears, and Ariel tries to find her, she discovers that Laurel has made a new mermaid friend. With a little help from King Triton and her underwater friends, Ariel retakes her mermaid form to track Laurel's whereabouts in Atlantica. The is a great story for any little one who enjoys princess stories. My daughter loves it and highly recommends it. FYI, this book is also available in paperback and Kindle format, Ariel: The Shimmering Star Necklace (A Jewel Story) .
