Tribal Histories of the Willamette Valley

A refreshing perspective on tribal issues from an author who is a member of one of the tribes
Really enjoying Tribal Histories. As a resident of the Willamette Valley, this book offered tremendous fascinating detail. I also like that it isn't written in the "breathless" narrative of so many books on this topic today. It's a straight forward discussion with many quotes from historical documents.Highly recommended.

Fabulous And It's About Time for History Correction!
I bought this book after hearing the author lecture in Eugene, Oregon. I am so grateful to finally get some corrected history about the pre-White cultures of Oregon and how the landscape has changed. The author has done a ton of research. I am finding it extremely interesting and will be better informed and appreciative as I travel around my state. I hope the information of this book will inform those who wish to work within environmental areas to make positive changes for our Mother Earth and the human politics that harm her.

A history long needing to be told
Reading Oregon history written from the perspective of its first inhabitants was enlightening. And Professor Lewis makes academic analysis and detail approachable for the layperson by including his personal experience. I recommend his book to readers interested in Native American history everywhere.
