Clever and very convienient amplifier.
I bought this for my aunt who had moved into a new house - some boost was needed for the tv signal and up to 4 outputs. The amplifier was placed in the loft with the aerial and the power supply connected to the lounge TV aerial point. Works a treat. It saved me having to mess about with adding a 240 Volt supply in the loft from a ring main to supply an alternative amp - lots of work avoided !. The 12 volt supply which is included does the job nicely. The amplifier "gain" can be adjusted - this is done via a small plastic adjuster in the amp itself. However I wouldn't recommend turning it down to "minimum", the amplifier will become unstable and does not provide the signals you want. Best to leave it as supplied (mine was 2/3rds up). Great product though and did the job well !.

A real solution to poor signal UPDATE: did not stand the test of time.
Delivery should never be part of a review; the review is for the product only.Packaging.The product arrived in a Cardboard Box, Id say mediocre packaging, no bubble wrap or protective packaging.Product Review.I moved into a new house in 2013 at the point analogue signal was switched off and digital was your only choice unless you took SKY or VIRGIN.I live quite rural and have to rely on a local redistribution signal, as I am on the border of getting the main broadcast signal in South Wales. The previous owner had made off with the aerial on the roof, and as I am a tight ass, I decided fit one myself in the loft! Who wants to pay for a TV engineer when you can do it twice as good at a 1/3 the price! (if you fall off your ladder don’t blame me :D)IMPORTANT! You should always get an aerial that will receive the best possible amount of signal before you make any other adjustments, so I fitted a very high gain digital aerial with 4G LTE cancelling tech..But the best I could get was breakup during the day and signal loss in the evening, no matter how much I moved it around or pointed at the moon it would not work any better..DO NOT waste your money on boosters that you plug into the socket behind your TV, they very rarely if ever work.Step in Masthead Amplifier, So first of all it is provided with a wiring diagram, which at first glance you would disbelief how the wiring works, but trust me believe it.. you also get some f plugs to complete your wiring, so I wired it it, and I went from 32 glitch channels to 91 full strength (HD too) Channels working 24/7 flawlessly! Now I had 2 runs of RF COAX running about 20 meters each and a 3rd at about 10 meters, I found I could not power all three lines with this if I did it I would lose signal at one point, so I have used the 2 x 20 meters which is fine for my needs, but some of you may need to consider a more powerful DC feed for longer runs. While F Plugs are provided they are for good quality cable, they wont fit thinner cables, also I found the connection on the PSU to be a bit lose at best so I had to make sure the exposed copper on the ends of the cables was S shaped to make sure a point of contact was constant, the PSU provides confirmation that a signal is working with a Green LED which lights up when a signal is present.Overall it’s a great product that solved my needs and gave me full signal, and I can finally cancel my sky sub. And move to Freeview and Streaming. It lost a star for its product packaging being a bit cheap and poor, also for lack of power on longer runs and lose connection.UPDATE:So i ended up returning this as basically it just kept losing power for no reason, and failing to keep a strong signal, ive lowered my review to 3 stars, because of fault issue.

Works exactly as expected. Perfect.
Simple to install (if you are happy to cut RF cable and fit F-connectors) - they even supply 8 F-connectors for 6mm cable with it.Works exactly as expected. Perfect. One caveat: I was hoping not to have to use the included 12v power supply because two of my outputs go to PVRs each of which claims to provide antenna power. But when I tested the PVRs, one provided only 5.3v and the other gave no voltage at all ! Obviously this is not a fault of the Optima but my point is that if it does not seem to be working for you, check there is power getting to it!

Excellent bit of kit
Excellent bit of kit. I bought this for my parents who recently had a an aerial fitted by Aerialforce with a booster, or so they thought. Totally been conned, no booster was fitted, a company that simply just takes advantage of the trustworthy. It wasent until after the installer left that they could not even get a signal on some channels, and after 3 promised call outs and not showing up, i just took care of it for them. And wow im glad i did for a a mere £20 i installed this beauty, i managed to pick up every channel under the sun, also every channel in HD, they were over the moon. 100% signal quality, and 91% signal strength, from factory. Highly recommend!

Not impressed. It's going back.
Easy to install even with vauge instructions. I was not surprised when there was Zero improvements after installing. Rechecked the wiring all good. Checked the TV and digi box signal strength readings on the TVs monitor and there was no difference when the power supply was switched on or off.The signal seems to bypass the power supply or its faulty.

Not very effective.
Quick delivery and all the bits were there. It's not very powerful though so if you have a very poor signal, you need something better.

Totally transformed our available channels
I bought this to replace an existing aerial amplifier, which had died, so only had to replace the powered part of the system, which was easily done. Fitting the whole thing from scratch might require some technical expertise. We have four TV sockets running of an aerial in the roof space - and this amplifier makes all the difference. Without it we can only pick up 30 Freeview channels, with it we get 130 channels and HD.It seems like it shouldn't work. You connect it to your main TV and aerial socket and somehow it amplifies the signal coming down from the aerial, then sends the amplified signal back up the same cable to the distribution box. However, it really does work excellently. The previous amplifier lasted about 7 years - if this does the same, I will be very pleased.
