Yours Truly: The laugh out loud romantic comedy!

Read BIG SEXY LOVE by Greenwood instead.
Definitely don't read this one after reading BIG SEXY LOVE. It's definitely a letdown. This one is not badly written and has better grammar and spelling than the majority of e-format contemporary romances, but the characters and plot are not really worth the bother. I ended up skimming a lot of the pages. That wasn't the case with BIG SEXY LOVE, which has a similar plot with an insecure heroine lacking self confidence who undergoes personal growth as the story progresses. That one had me chuckling a lot and enjoying the way it was written. This one was, I hate to say, a bit tedious and frustrating to read.Natalie, our heroine here, is a doormat. She lets everyone step on her, mother, sister, boyfriend, you name it. She has no confidence or assertive qualities, feels fat and unworthy of the miserly, insipid love her horrid boyfriend deals out to her. She's incapable of confronting anyone, not even her hairdresser when she gets the worst cut and color ever.Until the night she is accidentally hypnotized by Amazing Brian into being unable to answer questions with anything but honest, brutal truth. Her boyfriend is told that sex with him is not all that good and his cooking is bland and tasteless. Her mother is told that the wedding dress and decorations mother and sister have chosen for her are unbearably ugly and not her style. Everyone is treated to a taste of Natalie's real thoughts, for the first time in her life. Well, oops, the wedding may be called off if she can't locate Amazing Brian to get that hypnotic spell broken.Brian's location is tracked down to a small village in Yorkshire. But he's not there when she goes searching for him. However, this leads to some adventures with a lot of quirky characters in the village. And yadda, yadda. Will Natalie get her tact and diplomacy back in time to save her wedding? Will she learn anything about standing up for herself? Read to find out, if you want. I'd suggest reading BIG SEXY LOVE instead. It's much better.

Absolutely Brilliant
Think of this book as Liar, Liar meets rom-com. First of all, Natalie is a lovely character. She’s very self-deprecating (kind of like Kate Winslet in The Holiday), but you learn through the eyes of others that she’s harder on herself than she ought to be. What’s truly refreshing about this book is that there’s a happy ending and that there’s resolve for basically all of the characters. I for one, like books like these because I don’t think books have to have a crappy end just to feel “realistic.” Sometimes books can have a happy ending that inspire hope and leave you feeling good. This book does just that. I’ll be reading more from this author - I already ordered The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance on my Kindle. Great first book, Kirsty!

NOWHERE NEAR SOPHIE KINSELLA!
It's rare that I don't finish a book, but this one was excruciatingly hard to endure. I can't help but wonder if most of the reviewers are Facebook friends of the author. I might have given it two stars, but felt that someone needed to balance out a few of those 5 star reviews that have me scratching my head. I usually love this genre, and I could probably tell you which authors this writer favours. She's trying way too hard to be funny, and I think that's half the problem. The thing that perhaps put me off the most, was how much the characters drink. In the second drinking scene, the day after the first scene (!) The MC drinks;Almost 2 glasses of wine ('necking' one half, then the other half of her friend's)1 vodka tonic2 large shots of JagermeisterChugs down something - she's not sure what it isA few whiskiesthen goes onto Sambuca, shouting the whole pub.Meanwhile, her friend, (who's supposed to be driving) is matching her, while in the company of an unattractive, overweight guy she's just met, and is all over him, to the point of licking his face. These two are portrayed in a really disgusting light. I thought that the drunken, out of control young English woman on a night out had become a tired (and embarrassing) cliché, and not something to find amusing. Seems I'm sadly mistaken. And yeah, I get it. It's supposed to be light fiction. It's also supposed to be funny. Some reviewers have likened the author to Sophie Kinsella, and that's partly why I purchased this, but I think it's an extremely exaggerated comparison. Sorry to be so harsh. On top of that, the plot is completely predictable, and SPOILER ALERT ......If the MCs fiancé isn't gay, I'll be very surprised - but I won't be reading on to find out.

Easy and entertaining
I like how simple and engaging this book was, her sense of humor is enjoyable and relatable Natalie is a likable character with a pinch of ADD/ anxiety and self awareness that makes it easy to relate. It took me a little to get used to the lingo but it wasn’t difficult to understand. The ending was a bit too far out from reality, Railey just showing up like a blessing from the sky.I got good laughs and yes I would recommend it as an easy read. I may follow the writer too!

Hysterical, silly, heartbreaking, uplifting and just plain fun!
I totally enjoyed reading about Natalie, her crazy family and her best friend! Quite a unique cast of characters on an incredible adventure to a town that sounds so picturesque and beautiful. I love the banter, funny situations and the wild ride we are taken on! I can’t wait to read the next book!

Laugh out loud
I really enjoyed this book, it was a light read and had some real laugh out loud moments! Natalie is planning for her wedding with the help of her Mum and sister (who are basically over taking the whole affair with out a care in the world for what Natalie wants) the main character Natalie has an extremely hard time telling people the truth as she doesn’t like to hurt peoples feelings, until one night she is hypnotised and this is all that she can do! I think we can all relate to Natalie as I can think of a number of times that I have went along with something or agreed as I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. This book is absolutely hilarious and I was sad to have finished it! If you enjoy it, do check out her other books, big sexy love is one of my all time favs!

A Laugh Out Loud Book
I read this ages ago but it popped back into my to read books from archive and loved it as much second time round as the first time. Natalie is due to get married and her mother and sister are organising the whole thing. What could possibly go wrong? In the meantime, her friend Meg, persuades Natalie to go to see a hypnotist at the local pub. Meg wants to be hypnotised into believing she has had a gastric band fitted but somehow Natalie is hypnotised instead and when asked a question she can only tell the truth which causes her all sorts of problems with very funny consequences. Meg and Natalie set out to find the hypnotist to put things right but he seems to have disappeared.

You had me at hello 😄
This was the funniest book I'd read, I hadn't read a comedy before but now Kirsty Greenwood I'm hooked!! Im about to download your next book, I love the way you write, I can literally hear the characters voices in my head and see it play out in front of me as if it were on tv. A book has never captivated me this way before, I read only at bedtime and normally I'm falling asleep after first page (lightweight haha) but it can be 2 hours and I'm still going not wanting to put it down. Well I'd just like to finish with a big thank you and say I truly recommend this book 😊

Great fun
What a funny, heartwarming, and thoroughly enjoyable book. It’s filled with every imaginable character from our hard foment, sorely put-upon heroine, to devious villains, self-centred sibling, and harassed heroes.Take it on holiday, read it in the garden, devour it by the pool, but do yourself a favour, just read it!By the way, dear author, I loved the way you handled the ending. 👍🏻
