Very accurate wireless cyclo-computer with ETA and carbon-saved data for bicycle commuter nerds
This is another great wireless cyclo-computer in Sigma's Topline 2016 assortment. I bought this for a second recumbent bike because it was open-box priced around $25. I can transfer ride data via NFC to my Android phone using the Sigma Data Center app when I'm on a ride. Later it appears in the Sigma Data Center app on my Windows desktop. The data center keeps tabs (distance, average cadence, & ascent totals) for each ride and then presents me with weekly, monthly, and yearly charts. And the BC 16.16 STS, like the BC 14.16 on my other bike, keeps on going totals for distance, trip time sum, and total ascent. This BC 16.16 is designed especially for commuters. It gives you estimated time of arrival (ETA) data along with carbon saved estimates. Once I entered a custom wheel size setting I found my BC 16.16 mileage tracking error to be less than 1/100th of a mile.I've had no problems with the wheel and/or the crank sensor signals getting received on my handlebar mounted head unit even though I'm riding a crank-forward recumbent. I just reversed the crank sending unit, front to back. I also have not had a problem with the pedal mounted cadence magnet even though it has no mount: You just place it on the crank end of your pedal axle (it's gotta be steel) and the strong magnet holds it in place. I did find the mounting bolt that allows the cadence sensor to pivot for best magnet distance was a weak link in the overall design: It snapped off and I was forced to improvise a custom mount made with a thin aluminum strip.

Horrible Instructions
I read the reviews that said the instructions are difficult but I have had at least five Sigma bike computers in the past and thought those comments wouldn't apply to me. That was wrong. I installed it on the bike and played with it for over an hour trying to get it to do what my old ones did. It wouldn't do it. I got some functions to work but even when I gave up and started over, it would not do what it was supposed to do. Removed it from the bike and sent it back. I'm going to try a different brand. I'm done with Sigma.

terrible support !
Easy to install, works well. Really has too much information for my needs but that's ok. I am having trouble changing from "bike 1 to bike 2". The directions are difficult to follow. I called the customer service number (not toll free) and it is a recording advising to call back later. I sent an email and never got a response. I'm wishing I had purchased a different brand now. Tech support is aweful!

Awful instructions, functional, accurate
There are two big issues with the with this computer. The directions are horrible. They are on a huge, thin sheet that is folded like a map. The content is poorly organized and languages are sometimes mixed, or separate in random groupings. Setting up the computer is a bit cumbersome, but a breeze compared to some others like cateye. The sensor design is very fragile and difficult to stabilize as many wireless are. I secured it with two zip ties in addition to the strap. The need for zip ties means using it for multiple bikes isn't going to happen without major hassle. I installed it on a road bike, I can't imagine the design surviving potholes, let alone a mountain bike. The speed function appears to be accurate, the numbers are nice and large. The computer is sleek and allows you to easily scroll up or down so you dont have to go through the whole menu if you are just interested in ride time and miles. The ETA and fuel savings are near the end so you can avoid those if basic math isnt an issue while pedaling.

Did not work out of the box
I have had multiple bike computers over the years. While the unit itself works fine, I could not get the wheel sensor to communicate with the computer, no matter how I positioned the unit. I have had other Sigma products and overall have had good results. I returned the product for a refund.

Wireless BC with NFC to talk to app, ETA function, and backlight
I love this item. I own three of this line 16.16 for my commuter, 14.16 for my MTB, 23.16 for my road. For all is these, I really like the NFC function to transfer the ride info to my app. FYI you can have up to 3 bikes in the app, even though your speedometer can only have two. You can edit it in the app after you upload. The NFC is tricky, but their video really helps. Yes, the manual is a maze, but I'm the type that doesn't need the manual to set my watch. So these items are for technical folks. This one 16.16 is great for commuting because it has the ETA function. It makes me race against myself. I don't have the cadence because I'm just commuting to work.I've looked at many wireless bike computers under $50. This is the only one with all these features I mentioned above and the app that I really like.
