Payback in Death: An Eve Dallas Novel

Cannot comment on this item at the moment it was for the wife and she come up for air yet perhaps she's happy with it

I haven’t read it yet as I am keeping it to read on my trip to the UK next month.I gave it 4* because I know I will enjoy it.

I enjoyed this book much, much more that the previous one.The reason ? We saw more interaction with the other characters that people 'Dallas World'. J.D. Robb has been writing this series a long time and we have gradually met and gotten to know more and more interesting characters. So this series is no longer JUST about Eve Dallas and I really like that this book shows more... let's say sensitivity, in her interactions. She even said I Love You to Bella !!! And had a nice relaxing time with young Sean. And showed some vulnerability in front of her squad. I tried to think of the right word(s) to describe the difference in Dallas with this book and I think I felt she was less abrupt and more human in this story.When J.D. Robb leaves out the other characters in some of her books, it reads like a straight police procedural. If that is what I wanted, I could find that anywhere. So now I am not just buying an Eve Dallas book but an 'Eve Dallas World' book.And by the way, I buy the books twice. Once as soon as ii comes out and then again when it comes out in massmarket paperback a few months later. I am really looking forward to the next book which would seem to include more of Nadine and Jake in the story.
