Philips Shaver Series 9000, Wet and Dry Electric Shaver
This is a very early review, however, having used Philips Shavers all my life I kind of know what to expect. This purchase was both an upgrade and renewal as my last Shaver was getting towards 20 years old. My first thoughts are that its nice to hold, fits the hands well, with no effort or paying much attention to the 'best shave' assisted shaving techniques it gave me a very close shave (something that I was missing with my 20 year old razor). I like the size of the head, it provides both good coverage and better chances of achieving that closer shave. It is really easy to clean, I watched all the videos on use and cleaning and I think this will be easier to keep clean than my earlier shaver version. I've yet to use the shaving training mechanism and App, but its all setup ready to go when I use the shaver next.I like Philips Shavers, they perform well and tend to last a long time with care and maintenance. This is looking better than all of the shavers before it, but that is what you would expect with technology improvements over time. I initially looked at the 8000 series as that was more the price bracket that I wanted to stick to, but looking at the comparisons, this one looked to be much better. I'm glad that I spent the extra money on the Series 9000 model. This came with a proper mains adapter and charging pod, this charges fully in no time at all which is impressive, and as part of the pack came with a cleaning pod and a box of 4 cleaning solutions. At the rate of deep cleaning once per month, I think there is enough here for about 8-12 months. Just the cleaning equipment and solutions cover most of the difference in price from the 8000 model to this particular set that I purchased.I would recommend this, the flexibility of use either wet or dry, the ease of cleaning, the closeness of the shave and the value of the entire pack is really good.

Far better than some reviews suggest
To get the important stuff out of the way first , this is a brilliant shaver. No I would never pay it's RRP , but if you can ever get it on sale with a good discount .. then snap it up.Hope this helps a few of you out .. longer thoughts below.Few things to clear up from reviews that had initially almost put me off purchasing ..1) Yes there is a lot of distance from the start of the shaver head to where the blades are and as others had brought it up I was a little worried.Turns out it makes little to no difference to how I have to shave and does not impact on the quality of the shave either.2) Yea it's a little flashy and blingy with all the lightsTwo seconds after unboxing I used the menu to turn off the lights3) It has an app ...You don't have to use it , I don't use it and it works perfectly fine. It's not something you have to use if you don't want to.And lastly and frankly the most hilarious reason for a 1 star review I've seen ..4) It doesn't come with a UK plug...I don't know how old the person posting that was , but I assume this must be a first razor purchase. As with all electric razors , it comes with a standard 2 prong bathroom razor plug , which if you don't have can be used in a normal plug adapter. So I've just about always used a Phillips electric razor and I've always been really happy with my old old PT920 , its been getting long in the tooth for ages and tried to replace it with a cheap S5420 years ago .. it was ok but not as good as the 920 so soldiered on as I was , occasionally swapping between the two while noticing that neither were really giving me a good shave any more so....I spot this 9000 on sale , searched around to make sure it was a sale , read the reviews , got put off by a couple of them but figured hey it's Amazon , if it's not good it can just go straight back.I am very glad I did , I had not shaved for a couple of days so I could try it out and man .. it performed awesome.Gave me a nice close shave , no issue with missing the hairs under my nose or the edges of my mouth and used it again today with a normal day's growth and it performed just as well.My skin isn't irritated but I can feel it's given me a close shave .. it's hard to explain.Battery life .. with all the lights and everything on yesterday used about 6% today with lights off 2%So it seems battery life will be great.Very easy to use , one button to start and stop with a menu button press to change and press and hold to confirm.Charging was quite fast and while the charging stand is a bit cheap , it does it's job, but you don't have to use it , you can just plug a razor charging cable straight into the razor.Overall I am very happy with my purchase, I certainly as I said would never have paid RRP for it , that's just crazy .. but if you can get it on sale then it's well worth it.As for the app and connectivity , I haven't used it and probably never will.

As good as the price suggests!
Changed to the Philips 9000 razor from Braun 7 series which I've had for 5 years. Difference is night and day! Face much smoother in quicker time. Noise level much reduced. And fiddly areas like under nostrils are shaved perfectly well despite my pre-purchase misgivings given size of head around foil cutters themselves.App is useful in showing how well you're using the shaver as is the coloured ring around the head indicating correct pressure. If the battery is good for 60 minutes (not got there yet!) then that equates to 20 shaves. No regrets and a reasonable deal at £230 with a decent hard case, cleaning stand and fluid included.

Amazing upgrade from my old shaver
I've been shaving my head with one of those cheap Chinese head shavers for the last few years. It works, but it takes a while and needs recharging frequently.I saw the Philips 9000 on sale and decided to take the plunge. Holy cow, it's night and day different! The shaving heads look the wrong shape to shave my head, but they work remarkably well. Very little pressure is needed to get a super close shave. Instead of going over the same area again and again, it just glides over once or twice and *also* gives a closer shave. Much faster, less irritation.Battery life seems good and the cleaning station is so much easier than manually cleaning out the shaving heads. The cleaning station is absolutely worth getting. Don't bother getting the bundle with all the extra attachments though, let's be honest, you'll never use the face massager.I still wouldn't buy it at full price, but if you see it at a decent discount, grab one, you won't regret it.
