Well made and useful.
I am writing a review because the first two reviews of this product seems unfair to me. One review complains of a slow delivery time. Mine was delivered to the UK as fast as I could expect and I could track it throughout. I had an issue with one component and I contacted Peachtree who sent a replacement, which was also sent quickly. The other review complains of frustration setting it up. It isn't possible to give exact instructions due to differences in grinder sizes. fitting the arms under the wheels does require adjusting the height as the grinder stand will vary. I would guess that this system will work better with an 8 inch grinder because the wheel may be further away from the motor body. This is most obvious when grinding an Ellsworth type profile on the motor side of a gouge. A smaller head on the jig, like Ellsworths own jig design avoids this problem. However the difference between 6 and 8 is just the plastic setting pieces, the rest is the same. The larger the wheel the flatter the bevel and it seems to me this matters most with a skew bevel. The adjustable platform has been very helpful with speedy scraper sharpening. This pro-grind jig system is sturdy and well made, sharpens many different types of woodturning tools and doesn't deserve low star reviews. It isn't the perfect solution, but I am rating it for what it is at the price I purchased it.

Good jig with all the essentials for sharpening turning tools
What I like: The jig has all the essential parts and is easy to get working to repeatably sharpen all my turning tools. Worth the four stars given. The one star is removed for what I don't like, none of which is major but adds up. What I don't like: The setup jigs are not the solid metal pictured on the sales page, they are cheap 3d printed plastic that is unlikely to last. The setup instructions are not clear and it takes a lot of fine tuning to get the bars to lock properly without disturbing their setting. The instructions for grinding gouges also include settings that do not match the scales on the supplied parts, so some trial and error is required to find the correct settings for the wanted grind.

I read all the reviews. I like to start with the 1-star reviews and work my way up. I don't know if the manufacturer addressed all of the issues, but I didn't experience any of them. The material used is even heavier than I had hoped. The cams and arms slide smoothly and lock without issue. I really like all of the different setup jigs. They are made of plastic but they are heavy duty and I see no reason why they won't last a lifetime. They aren't used under pressure or with a spinning wheel. I can't see a reason why plastic isn't a great choice for these jigs. The brass tightening wheel is secure to the steel screw. I tried very hard (with only my hands) to break the two apart and could not. I'm very mechanically inclined and I found everything very easy to understand and install. Everything was packaged with professional care. Not a single scratch on any piece. The finish on the parts seems very durable. A few of the welds (for example on small nuts that allow for the thumb locks) seem a bit small. But there are four on each nut and they are all solid. They don't have to take a lot of pressure so I believe they will be more than ample. (I'm just one of those guys that thinks more weld is better than less. However on these smaller nuts, more weld would probably cause way more issues and like I said, I don't thing it is necessary.) I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. I did see that some people ordered 8" when they really needed 6" grinder versions. But the manufacturer is very clear in their description and on the box which one you are ordering. May 22 Update - I've been using the jig for a couple of months now and I really like it. I get perfect grinds on my lathe chisels every time. Since my angles are always the same, sharpening takes very little time and removes very little metal. I sharpen before each project and run a project every-other-day. Very nice product!

I bought the pro grind system based on their excellent instructional video and reviews, but also because a guy in my turning group also bought one years ago and swears by it. Despite being $30 MORE than the One-Way you find in classes, I liked the sturdiness and durability of the system. I also liked that they had a model that explicitly worked with a 6-inch grinder, as that’s what I had. I also wanted to support a US company. The jig itself is constructed of powder coated metal and was carefully placed in the box. Amazon delivered it in the original box so the world could see what it is, if that matters to you. However, to my dismay, the Quad setup jig and the Setup blocks are now in molded plastic, and the quality is far from what is represented in the video or the photos on their web site. The quad setup jigs are marked simply with 1 and 2, so the “recipe” for setting up a proper method to adjust the tool using either the 1¾” or 2” distance are replaced by giant 1s and 2s and molded using the lightest plastic you’d find on a Milton Bradley toy. You can even see the reinforced ribbing on the other side of the tool as they’re not even solid pieces. This is nowhere near the quality molding as you’d find on a Microjig push block, and it’s even worse than what you’d find Kreg would use. This isn’t some dark arts of manufacturing I’m referring to; these molds represent a haphazard manufacturing afterthought. Worse, instead of having a written explanation of when to use which numbered part printed directly on the part itself, I instead need to use a piece of paper that they included in the plastic wrap for the pieces. This part is mostly because I am an idiot (not on them), but they included the paper in the sealed plastic so it looked like a shipping label (the instructions were included in the box. I didn’t realize this was the instructions for these parts, so I trimmed off an edge of the instructions I now need to store somewhere and hope I don’t lose. Anyway, I’m still in the process of putting my shop together after moving, so I didn’t open the box until last night. Thus, I missed my return window with Amazon so I was forced to contact the company to be that guy and complain. I called customer service, who explained that the manufacturer doesn’t sell the metal parts anymore. After telling me that there’s a mysterious difference between whether or not Amazon ‘fulfills’ or ‘sells’ an order (which buyers wouldn’t be able to figure out) and pleading with them to make this right somehow, I was escalated to someone higher who is going to refund me the cost of replacing these parts (because these are not great quality). The woman on the phone was very helpful, and explained that the 6” system never had a metal part to begin with. Though there’s no indication that it would be different than the 8”, despite paying the same price for either a 6” with plastic parts or 8” for metal parts means you’re effectively paying more for lower quality. I’m annoyed that there’s no indication on the description, in their video, and only one other reviewer who suspiciously gives it 5 stars mentions the plastic parts when searching the page for it. Going to the Peach Tree website (which no one should reasonably be expected to do this much research to see if a seller is being honest) neglects to mention the lack of metal parts. Instead I’d see that I would need to spend $20 MORE on the manufacturer's site in addition to paying for shipping and I wouldn't have looked much further. I don't think they did it on purpose, but this just feels like a sneaky way to keep me from seeing they use cheap plastic molding. In any case, this listing is deceptive and I’m really disappointed even if they were able to refund me back a small portion of the cost of this thing. It doesn't make me feel great about buying anything from them in the future, and this is a pretty niche hobby to lose customers in.

I just received this today and over all I am happy with it. I have a Delta 6" bench top grinder and I ordered the pro Grind for the 6" grinders. When I centered the base under the wheel the legs on the base hit the bottom of the grinder. Which made it difficult to get the base centered on the grinding wheel. I was able to resolve this by putting spacers on the bolts that secure the grinder to the bench which elevated the grinder and it all worked out. The other things I noticed were the top of the multi ground mount bar is worn and mushroomed over like it was used or e inssomeone ground it off. Also the instructions that came in the box with the setup blocks were for a wolverine veri-Grind, not for the ProGrind Multi-Grind Jig. I thought that was odd and that along with the wear on the Multi Ground Bar made me think this may wane an open box return or perhaps was used by someone testing and comparing different systems. The only complaint I have with the system so far is that when you use the cam lock on the base to lock the bars in please during setup the can will actually move the bar in or out as it tightens throwing your setup off. Will have to be something I'll figure out with more use.

I never sharpened a tool before and I thought this would be straight forward. It needs better instructions. I can get a better grind free hand than I can with this system. If you are trying to get a arch for your bowl gaouge using this system will give you a straight cut at best. I found it removes the point and leaves the sides concave. I can fix it free hand but then why do I need the system?
