Works good

Usually unplug and store for winter. This year with bio-balls in filter, left UV on all summer 2020 up to now, 2021. Pond is near perfect. Oregon not known for sun but winter still enough to keep algae growing. Now will keep stocked and will replace real soon. UV lights die over time so even if lit, won't be as effective at killing algae.

Although this replacement bulb is associated with the Tetra Pond Sterilizer, I am using it with my Aerus Guardian Air Cleaner. The model number of the bulb is identical to the original equipment and after one week seems to work just fine. Aerus sells the bulb for three times the Amazon price and they seem to last anywhere between 6 months and 2 years. I cannot measure the effectiveness of the bulb but will update this review whenever the bulb fails.

I've been using this bulb type for 5 years in an outdoor 600 gallon goldfish pond and have always ordered from Amazon. When the bulb is new, it works like magic, quickly clearing up the green algae that causes the water to be murky and prevents visibility to the bottom of my 2' deep pond. The bulbs only last about a year though. They still light up, but as lightbulbs do, they dim with age. When this happens, the water gets green and it's time for a new bulb.Unfortunately, the most recent bulb I purchased, was old to start and my pond has remained green after nearly 2 weeks of use. I reached out to the seller to send me a proper NEW bulb which is what I thought I was paying for.Crickets....

Just what I wanted

I am told that these UV lamps lose their effectiveness after 6 months of usage even if still lit. I put one of these new ones to work upon receipt plus an applivcation of Microbe Lift PL and my pond was clear of all algae within a week with no sign of more build up.
