I bought this as a back up for the branded Canon battery that came with my camera. I have had a "lookalike" one before and found it very useful to have with me when out walking or on holiday in case the branded one in the camera ran out. The only downside seems to be that the substitute battery has a shorter life than the branded one but, even so, I had my first one for several years and it had multiple charges (I tend to use the batteries in rotation) before it needed replacing - it does the job perfectly and it's significantly cheaper than buying a second Canon branded one.

Cheaper than an OEM battery.

GOOD VALUE PROMPTLY DELIVERED

This battery has so much more capacity than Canon's own with its paltry 1050mAh. That, together with its price being a third of Canon's makes it a perfect backup. Be warned though... the Maxsima battery I bought is about 1mm longer than Canon's, which might result in a very tight fit.

Don’t listen to the reviews saying it won’t fit you canon g10. It fits as perfect and lasts longer than the canon battery

This battery purchased for my Canon G12, which it is supposed to be compatible with, would not fit in either the camera or the charger. It is about 1.5 mm thicker than the Canon original battery. I have just returned it for a refund.

I have been disappointed in recent weeks with a different manufacturer's Canon G12 replacement battery, but this one from Maxim is the business. It has plenty of power and it holds its charge well. It's on a par with the one that came with the camera and might even be a little better. Just the job.
