Beautifully designed. - The Arkansas Novaculite is an amazing material, unlike anything I've really used before. Very consistent and durable. - Dare I say heirloom quality. I may not be Viking, but I might be buried with this LOL. I just received this last night as a birthday gift and I absolutely love it! Being a knife enthusiast (and starting collector) I have spent a considerable amount of time purchasing, researching and practicing with various knife steels, sharpening methods and materials and actuating/locking mechanisms. It has been a fascinating journey and I've really come to appreciate exceptional design, superior engineering and old-school methodologies. One of my more Zen-like hobbies is hand sharpening using whetstones and leather strops. And while I do indeed have several “travel” or portable sharpening tools, none of them are with me every hour of every day. Until now, that is! The Viking Whetstone Pendant is unbelievably convenient and exceptionally high quality. The leather strap/necklace is thin, strong and incredibly soft. While it was a bit long for me, I simply added 3 or 4 snake knots at the top of the pendant and it fits perfect (see photo.) I highly recommend this as a unique, high quality gift you can give someone interested in EDC, prepping or just a knife enthusiast. Well done Wazoo!

Saw this baby on Fowler's Makery and Mischief Youtube episodes and was sold. I recommend watching Wazoo's instructionals on how to properly keep and use it, yeah, it is rather naturally intuitive but wisdom is the better part and all that, so take the time to do it. It is quality, lovely and lightweight--an awesome modernization of a past bit of kit for every day wear or for stashing in your bag for adventures. Given the low cost, I recommend getting more than one--that way you can have one for both areas. I put in for the 'pattern' stone and I got a really good looking spotted stone that has light grey, dark grey and purple--colors are even better when you use water on it. Very happy. The stone is definitely quality and easy to use, love all the different parts that let you sharpen all sorts of blade shapes (and hooks). This is a very well thought out tool. I very carefully used some Snowseal on the leather cord (with looks really good with the knots and is easy to shorten by moving the top two) and will wear it regularly. I'm keeping it a water only stone for ease of availability. Will be back to buy more--for my various kits and for family. Thanks, Fowler and Wazoo!

So I was actually looking for a Viking sharpening stone.... and actually found one. I have multiple knives I take into the field at different times for different things. I like to go deep into the back country and weight of items is on my mind. i have several different wet stones that I rangerband onto my sheaths. Or I carry a triple stack of diamond plates. I was looking for something to stream line my kit. The Viking pendent was what I found to do the trick, around my neck, always with me and ready for any blade. I went over the knives in the picture with it, it’s a great mantance/finishing stone, it was particularly awesome on the Kukri, the rounded side is perfect for the tricky spot. The stone has a multi faseted surface for all kinds of blade needs. I was going to restring it out of the box, but ended up liking the leather lanyard. I would be interested in one exactly the same but twice the size as a large option, and a palm sized one for backpack etc. The company mistakenly called me thinking I had a complaint, in this day for a company to take the effort to call to make something right that quick is rare(customer, not me, stone was broken during shipping) very nice people. I will be looking out for future products.

This was one of my brother’s Christmas Wish List items. So I got it for him. He loves it. It’s exactly what he was wanting and is something that he says is the perfect quality and size. He is very pleased with how well it’s made and says he would absolutely recommend it to others looking for the same kind of item.

I'm writing this review after having this necklace since May 2020. As an accessory/jewelry I have liked this necklace ever since I received it, so much that I have seriously worn this thing 24/7 for the last 3 years with the exception of some instances. That being said of course the leather cordage has worn significantly, as seen in the photo provided; however, I never would have thought it'd last this long (it snapped today after I tested it's strength after all this time). As for the capabilities of the whetstone itself I have to say it's alright. Though I'm not great at sharpening with whetstones in general, I must say I'd rather have this necklace if it were the only thing available to me. There are better whetstones out there, but this is great if you were to go buschcrafting and needed something to sharpen a knife that's also lightweight. Also, with the abuse I've put this thing through I don't see any wear on the stone itself, just the leather cord of course. Overall, this is a great necklace that's lasted longer than I expected, and having some decent knowledge and skills with using whetstones would make it more valuable to me. I only wish the price was slightly less, since I'm going to buy another and I don't have any recollection of it being that much when I first bought it.

There's a lot to say about this little piece. I've worn it for over a month so far. The leather is very nice and yes, you can wear it in the shower; I scrub the stone as well and it stays functional. It sharpens nice. Very nice. It would take practice to shave with this stone, but I have some very sharp knives. It's easy to hone them if you really wanted to. I usually do a crude cardboard hone and it's good to slice. I think my stone is closer to 800 than 600. I spend time sharpening my kitchen knives while doing dishes. It's very fun if you're the type to sharpen everything around you. My primary fear was that the stone would get saturated with filings. I've converted sharpener stands into my own pendants, but the grit was too fine. This stone is 600-800 which is perfect for something like this. Also, I've gotten 600 grit before and it was almost like chalk. This stone is nice. It's hard, but stays clean if you use water and wash it regularly. The downside is just nature, sadly. So, when you inevitably drop the stone, the leather rope gives you a random chance to cushion the fall. On the opposite end, and this will happen too, it will land on the thin beveled side. I ground mine to be more serviceable, but it highlights that this is still ultimately fragile, despite the quality. I consider this my new ID tag. It's got my smell on it. I got a regular, plain, boring stone and the unique rust spots and colorizing that happens is unique in it's own right. Even if you don't get a chocolate brownie stone, you're getting something very personal.

Truly beautiful. Truly a Masterpiece of a stone. It is so interesting that every 1 u buy is a random gamble. And truly is a sad thing u cannot pick the 1 u want. Thankfully for me I got to pick on ebay. However. I bought 1 in the past and it looks just plain white. Nothing interesting. However. This is the same company. And IS a Wazoo viking stone necklace. So. I have decided to show the 1 I got to pick on ebay in place of the review or the 1 I received from here on Amazon. As a I suppose potential of somthing u COOOOUUULLD receive. MABYE. I think in comparison to a boring bland pure blank white stone this 1 looks grand scale masterpiece. In conclusion. I hope when u all buy 1 u get somthing unique like this 1 an not some bland blank just all white stone. Either way its 100% worth the purchase. I keep this on my neck 24/7. I sleep with it. Shower with it. EVERYTHING. I NEVER take it off. Thanks to this stone my leathermans NEVER go dull. And if u pair it with the little ferro rod/ ceramic striker/knife sharperner/honer. U can't go wrong!!! I wear both on a 24/7 basis. I recommend u invest on both and do the same. Ur multi tools will thank and love u . And u will ALLWAYS be able to make fire. Trust me. I am a huge fan of knives. I have quite a few of them (ok maybe a bit more then a few...like a lot) this is such a handy thing to have. I sat outside in the sunshine and just went to town on my favorites of favorites. My two favorite knife steels are: S30V ( S30V is a very high end stainless steel. Some would call it a “super steel🦸‍♂️“ it holds a wonderful edge, is very rust resistant and it can take an extreme amount of abuse, it’s also a chore to sharpen. I put the best edge I have ever put on my Benchmade Griptlion with just this stone. My next favorite steel is CPM-M4. It holds a better edge then S30V, it’s a lot stronger as well (S30V can chip... if you have abused it enough) M4 is not a stainless steel it is a high end high carbon steel so it can and will corrode🤷‍♂️ This also put a great edge on two of my M4 blades. It did take a long time to get there but it was absolutely worth the effort. Next I went to work on my very abused Cold Steel SRK 6” fixed blade made out of SK-5 a Japanese high carbon steel comparison to 1055 high carbon steel. Anything in the 10xx high carbon steel is very common for knives but it will rust most of them all. It will rust very fast in fact. It’s very important that the blade is completely free of rust or any other “gunk” all Arkansas stones are very porous and those particles will clog your sharper stone. I use a good ceramic for this. I also strop on glass (it’s an old jewelers technique) I highly recommended this product to everyone who needs to keep the knives ready. I wear this every single day, all day. the oil from your skin and any water source should work just fine.
