Color Purple, The (2023) (DVD)

I read the book when it first came out (yes, I'm that old), saw the first film version, and got to see part of this on an airplane, but not all of it. I was so enthralled I had to buy it! The very first scene reminded me of Alvin Ailey's "Revelations," so this is like an American classic right out of the gate. The singing and dancing are wonderful. I missed a few key lines and moments that were in the book, but otherwise, I found this thoroughly enjoyable!!

I love everything about the movie

It is no wonder this version of The Color Purple won so many Academy Awards. Between the positive plot, the singing and the dancing, the directing (which I rarely notice) and producing is better than any musical I have EVER seen. Buy It and enjoy!
