I bought this because the US version was badly translated, thinking that a Penguin classic must be better. I found that this edition was by the same translator. It is terrible, being almost literal in its interpretation and losing all sense of what the author intended to convey. I have the French original in parallel which is the basis for this judgment. What adreadful disappointment.
