Provides longitudinal stability and lateral freedom. Can install with childseat latches or headrest.
We have used this product for years with our previous 30-pound dog as well as our current 80-pound dog. We couple it with a dog "hammock" that protects our seats while providing complementary safety to the zipline. The zipline is great because it provides adjustable front-to-back stability while still allowing the dog to move left-and-right on the seat (and makes it easy to attach to the dog regardless of where they jump in on the seat). The instructions say to connect it to the seat belts, but we use our seat belts to hold our dog hammock in. Instead, we connect it to the child-seat hooks on one car (see image) or we tighten it down between two headrest supports on the other car (see image). Both of these solutions allow the zipline to be secured above the dog, letting the belt connect to the back of our dog's harness. This configuration helps to prevent our dog from getting tangled (although it is theoretically possible for the dog to turn around and snake the belt around his neck, but he would almost have to intentionally do that maneuver; it never happens while we're driving and he's just laying down). In short, this zipline and belt will last you a long time and secure your dog to the back seat while still giving it a little room to move around to get comfortable. There are multiple ways to secure it to the car -- using seat belts, childseat hooks, or headrest supports. If your dog moves around a lot, make sure you pick a configuration that makes it unlikely for them to get the belt twisted around their neck. For us, this zipline and belt combination is great to combine with a dog hammock.

Car ride game changer
I took the advice of another reviewer and got one of those smooth swing swivels to attach the leash part to and I’ve never had my dog get twisted up (and he’s going from window to window, spinning around etc)It was super easy to install, I have hooks rather than handles above the windows in my backseat and the zipline looks so good tucked up close to the ceiling (out of view unless being used). I like that it has the little bungee cord to keep the extra length neatly tucked away.I’m a sucker for a well designed product and this is one. My last dog seat belt was also from Kurgo, they really make products that last a lifetime, really high quality.

It be perfect with one improvement…
The media could not be loaded. Update: I bought a swivel loop that’s used for rock climbing. It came with lockable carabiners but the loops are big enough I can feed the line through and it still be able to move smoothly. I spent $13 for the swivel so that wasn’t bad. Now that I have that it works flawlessly and I don’t have to worry about my boy getting tangled up.I bought this for my 50 Pound Australian Shepherd. He has car anxiety so he tends to pace back and forth a lot. I wanted something that would stay out of the way because his normal seatbelt clips were either too short for him or he would get them wrapped around his legs from pacing back and forth which is super scary for if we ever got in an accident because it could seriously hurt him. I liked the idea of having something from above so he wouldn’t get tangled. The product itself seems heavy duty. The carabiners included are very sturdy and honestly surprised me when I picked them up and how heavy they were. The zip line feels like what you would use as a tie down for a truck. The tightening part of it was kind of a pain because of the design placement but I made due. I liked that the line connecting to your dogs harness is a leash because if anything happened I could just grab him and go in an emergency. The only thing I really don’t like that is honestly super annoying is the fact that there isn’t a swivel design for the carabiner that attaches to the line. When my dog gets excited (which is anytime we stop and he gets to get out) he spins and it end up twisting the drop line to the point I can’t unlock the carabiner so I have him turn the opposite direction a few times before the tensions released enough for me to unclip him. If that was fixed I feel like this would be absolutely perfect. I bought a rock climbing carabiner that swivels and just plan on using that instead so hopefully that fixes the situation.

Best thing
I really like this product. I feel better having a tether in my car for my dog. It keeps her secure and allows her to lay down

Great for a small dog on a console seat
We used this as a restraint for a small (~10 lb) dog sitting in a padded bed/seat that straps to the console lid between the driver and the passenger. We just got back from a road trip with 20 hours of driving each way, and this tether was a resounding success. Our back seat was full, and our rescue would howl the whole time if we tried to isolate her back there anyway. This product, coupled with a basic console seat (reinforced with corrugated plastic) made our dog completely comfortable, and let us focus on driving and navigating while the dog largely snoozed away. I attached the zip line hooks to the front seat headrest posts. The included carabiners were way too heavy for this size dog, so I swapped in one of my own, coupled with a spinning leash clip that I had salvaged off a frayed leash. The combo allows her to turn (always the same direction of course) without twisting the restraint section hopelessly tight, as the leash clip spins freely. When she'd occasionally get excited, the restraint kept her confined to just the area we had in mind. I threaded the zipline through the second-to-shortest "pocket" in the restraint section for less weight dragging that part down than the heavy duty carabiner included for that purpose. I know it's not rated/marketed as a safety restraint, but given the build quality, I think it would keep our light dog safer than any of the prior methods of transit we had tried. The design is very flexible and well thought out. Great product; wish I'd found it a few years earlier!

Good to use for a dog who moves around all the time - keeps her safe
This seems well made and sturdy. Our dog moves around and circles in the car a lot so we bought a swivel attachment to clip onto, which works well together (someone else had mentioned this in their review - thank you - it helped greatly!)

Me encanta
La manera de sujeción es genial, al asidero interior de arriba de las ventanas, he hecho varios viajes con mi perro de 21 kg y se adapta genial incluso cuando se da la vuelta para encontrar su sitio.

Great item
This worked wonders. When we used other solutions, our dog felt too restricted and tried to chew her leash. This one is just the correct balance between freedom and safety.

Stress free journeys at last!
After years of travelling down to Cornwall and constantly reaching back to untangle our GSD from his harness attachment which got tangled EVERY time he turned round I saw this and thought we would give it a go. Brilliant! Set up was very easy and I decided to attach the zip line via the handles and not around the seatbelts as can be done. I added another clip to the caribiner that was supplied so that the line could turn with the dog. Not once on the journey did I have to turn round and it made for a far less stressful journey. Though I do not feel that this would be as safe in a major smash as the other ways of attaching your dog to the back, the ones that clip directly into the seat belt clip,i do trust it enough to feel confident that it would still restrict his movement forward should a shunt happen. The other good thing with this is that the line that runs to the zip line has multiple adjustments, loops, built into the line so that it can be adjusted for large or small dogs and also when you need to take the dog out this line then doubles as the lead to walk the dog so there is no need to take an additional lead with you. Here is a link to the additional clip that I put on the caribiner so that it could turn with the dog.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Trigger-Lead-snap-hook-Medium/dp/B006JPC85A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407912190&sr=8-1&keywords=dog+clip
