Saintly Rhymes for Modern Times
C**K
BEAUTIFUL rhyming book to teach your children about saints!
I love everything about this book!! The rhymes, the illustrations, the saints they chose...absolutely wonderful! I haven't found anything like this before and was so excited to stumble upon this. A lot of saint books tend to feature the same "classic" saints- Saint Patrick, Saint Francis, Saint Cecilia, etc. But this book highlights more modern saints and a very diverse selection of saints from around the world! Some of the saints are still in the process of becoming saints (Blessed Chiara "Luce Badano, Blessed Miguel Pro, Venerable Fulton Sheen, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassatti). This book also features favorites such as St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Faustina, Mother Teresa, and Pope John Paul II. I was very impressed by the two stanza poems for each saint! Knowing quite a bit about the saints chosen, it was really cool to see the way the author summarized these holy men and women's lives in such short rhymes. It was clear that a lot of thought went into who was featured and what were the most important things to highlight about their lives. This is a must have if you are a building up your child's Catholic library and such a great introduction to saints who were both brave and so normal at the same time! It's a book that even adults reading to their kids will enjoy and learn from.

Love this book!!!
This is a wonderful book with two-stanza poems illustrating each saint's life. I love the pictures and the poems. They are detailed enough to give a good idea of what each saint is known for, but short enough that they kept my kids' (ages 2, 5, & 6) attention. The stories led to many discussions with the kids about various aspects of the lives of these saints. I also really like that these are all modern saints. With the exception of Sts. Therese, Zelie, & Louis Martin, I believe all the saints in this book are from the 20th. It's refreshing to see stories with modern saints to show our children that saints are not just people of the past - they are the moms, dads, priests, nuns, doctors, mountain climbers, and children of this day & age as well. Very well done!

A Timely and Inspiring Effort!
What well-written poetry and wonderful illustrations! The poetry is concise and sufficiently descriptive; the illustrations are simple but nicely creative. It's inspiring to have tales of saintly people who lived in more recent times, some of whom were part of our own lifetimes! I purchased three books, one for each of my children's households. With six grandchildren to date, I am happy to share these stories of the love and charity of ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives. Well done, Meghan! Blessings, Kathleen Fink, Bergen

Wow!
I've been wanting to order this book for a while, and was excited when it was delivered this morning. I quickly opened it, and read it, and I love it! I'm a bit of a snob about books, especially children's books, but this one is unusually great! The poems and pictures are both very well done, even the choice of saints (though a few are "Blesseds" - not canonized yet) is great - a few that aren't talked about that much. I'm going to use it with my preschool classes, with my first grade Religion class, give one to my grandchildren, and share it with all my Catholic friends! I'll be buying more copies for sure!

Adorable!
This book is delightful. You might be tempted to say that it's simple but that's what I like about it! My kids enjoy the poems and I love sharing these modern saints with them. The pictures prompt great conversations and it warms my heart to see so many examples of ways to become saints in our modern times!

Great way to introduce saints to littles
I bought this book on a whim to add to our "poetry" time each day and as a way to start introducing saints to my 3.5y old. We read through all of them once and then she requested we read only the girl saints the next day and the day after that. After only reading it three times, she began dressing up as Our Lady of Fatima and demanding we "pray more rosaries". She loves the rhymes and it's a great way to introduce her to saints she can choose from to begin learning more about. Highly recommend.

Great Catholic book
My 3 year old son is really drawn to this book. He tends to be bored w/ a lot of Catholic/Christian books because the stories aren’t great and don’t hold his attention. But the illustrations hold his attention, and the rhymes hold his attention. And I love that it’s a solid Catholic book about a variety of saints from around the world and good catechesis. I think he’ll really learn something as he learns and remembers the words.

Every Home Needs a Copy of This Beautiful Book!
You can't help falling in love with these sweet illustrations and beautifully written poems. Each Saint is introduced in a way to inspire children to want to learn more about these holy souls. The fact that they lived quite recently makes them even more real to all of us. This may be a children's book, but it spoke to me as well. Ordering several for gifts.
