Japanese Inns and Hot Springs: A Guide to Japan's Best Ryokan & Onsen

I loved all of the Ryocan's presented in the book. The only issue is that I couldn't find any availability with the ones suggested in the book on the days we wanted them. I will need to start 4 months in advance next time.

Great photos and descriptive text- a perfect book for daydreaming about some of Japan's loveliest places.

A lush substitution for being able to be at a Japanese Inn!

I love traveling in Japan and visiting the onsens, so I was really looking forward to reading this book. When it arrived I found that the photos are a bit grainy/low resolution. Figuring that many of these places are $500-$1000 a day, I will probably never see them anyway, but I had hoped for a better quality and inviting glimpse at them.

Nous faisons tous les deux ans un "onsen tour" de 4 semaines en train et voiture de location . Mon épouse est une "addict" des onsen et de la nourriture japonaise . Nous avons ainsi été partout au Japon .

I received the book very quickly and in very good state. The book cover is soft. I was excited and very eager to receive this book however, I gave 3 stars for it because I am disappointed in the quality of the pictures. Since the pictures are the main attraction of the book I was expecting high quality pictures, however some of the pictures that cover the entire page are blurry and not well defined. Colours also appeared somewhat washed. Seeing that the original price for this book is 11 dollars, I felt a bit tricked for what I got. I also expected that the book would give out prices and tips/tricks for booking inns. So far I didn't encounter this information. I will update after I read this book.

Bought this for a visit to Japan. Gives good tips

This is a really great book.The hot springs (onsen and ryokan) detailed are well researched, well written and contain a wealth of lovely imagery. Each location is well referenced and the overall look and feel of the book is that of something well thought out and put together.If you are looking for a book on some of the best onsen and ryokan's that Japan has to offer, then this is a great place to start your research.
