TFW Banjolele Starter Kit - With Case and Accessories

Well made, nicely finished, great sound. As with any stringed instrument, it needed some adjustments to set the action where I wanted it. The 5/8" bridge was replaced with a 1/2" bridge and the nut grooves were filed down to lower the action where I like it. I thought an armguard would be a nice addition - so I made one. A strap was added for easier holding while playing. This bundle is a great deal for anyone wanting a nice banjolele and quality hard case.

I just received this Wednesday, two days ago. I haven't had much time to spend playing it, but when I did, I had to spend time fixing it because when I began to tune it, the A string kept popping through the hole of the tailpiece. I soon discovered the string was way too short for anything useful, and the end of the string that goes through the tailpiece was not tied in a large enough knot to keep it securely in place. Fortunately, an extra set of strings came with the kit and I used the A string from that set to restring the banjolele. I did not have any problems with the other strings, thankfully! Having finally strung and tuned up the banjolele, I found it incredibly delightful! I used to play the 5-String Banjo and LOVED it. The banjolele is reminiscent of that, with a bluegrass banjo sound. The design and build of this banjolele is superb! The craftsmanship is beyond anything I expected - I'd put it on par with my expensive banjo. It is gorgeous and well-made. Instead of the usual ukulele fare, I plan to play bluegrass music on this banjolele.

The banjolele looks very nice, the case and accessories are all very nice. I especially appreciated the tuner. It is not ready to go out of the box. Not being a luthier, I was not comfortable with adjusting the neck, the drum, or the action. Action was way high and essentially unplayable. Strings were very poor quality. I took it to my local repair shop; two weeks and $70 later, it plays fine with a good action and not bad tone. It's an inexpensive banjolele, but actually better than what I expected. Just be prepared to get it fixed up to play.

I was surprised by the quality for the price, The wood is very attractive and the sound is good. My instructor tuned it for me and played it. We were both impressed! The hard case is perfect.

If you replaced the pieces then it may be good but as is is novelty at best

I love the combination of 2 such similar but different instruments. My daughter is going to love getting these for her birthday because she already loves her ukelele. Can't wait to see her face when she opens the well made hard case and sees this totally unique and beautiful instrument!

This is a very nice instrument, because it’s small and has nylon strings and very attractive. I like the hard case very sturdy. I also play a GOYER full-size banjo

For the cost, this is a great set. Sound is decent and comes with everything you need to get started.
