Could this tree grow successfully outdoors in Phoenix, Arizona if it is given partial shade?

This is a year round outdoor tree. I grows best with morning sun and afternoon shade. Basically being on the southern or eastern part of the home.

Does it have to be trimmed?

You can trim if you like but many arrive already styled. At this point you should just be maintaining the shape. Trimming is strictly on you, whether you would like to do it, but be sure to only trim the foliage in the spring/summer months.

You can slip pot at any time but you cannot trim any roots right now. The next time to trim roots for a Juniper is when it is dormant and temp are near freezing

Does it come with fertilizer already in the soil?

Yes it does. It will last for several months after purchase.
